The 39-year-old made his Ranji debut in the 2001-02 edition and last played in the 2023 edition, where he played for Pondicherry. In 80 Ranji matches, he has scored 6,466 runs with 25 tons and 17 fifties, including nine 200s.

The Saurashtra legend played his first Ranji match against Vidarbha back in 2005 and since has slammed eight double-tons, including two triple centuries and 12 centuries in the Ranji Trophy. Pujara was leveled with Mukund in terms of scoring the most double centuries in the Ranji Trophy. He climbed up to the 2nd spot after the double century against Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy 2024 opener.

With his eighth Ranji double-century, the 35-year-old also achieved a unique record of leveling with Herbert Sutcliffe and Mark Ramprakash for the most (17) 200s in first-class cricket, in the fourth position. He is now behind Donald Bradman, Wally Hammond, and Elias Henry Hendren.

Abhinav Mukund comes in third place with seven double-tons in the Ranji Trophy. The left-handed opener showed his class on his debut Ranji knock, slamming a magnificent 100. Mukund made his India debut in 2011 and finished his first-class career in 2020 after representing the state in 64 Ranji matches, slamming 4,117 runs with 12 centuries and 17 fifties, with a highest score of 240.

Delhi's Ajay Sharma could not blossom for India for his off-the-field activities. During his 17-year-old first-class career, Sharma played for Delhi and Himachal Pradesh, slamming as many as seven Ranji Trophy double-centuries, which came in 85 matches, amassing 7,319 runs, with 31 tons and 20 fifties.

During the 1996-97 Ranji season, Ajay Sharma became the third player to score 1,000 runs in a single season. However, he was involved in match-fixing which led to the BCCI life banning the cricketer in 2000.

Manoj Tiwary made his Ranji Trophy debut in 2004 and showcased his potential, which gained recognition all over in first-class cricket. Tiwary, who made a notable return to Ranji last year for one more season, represented Bengal for 19 years and registered six double-hundred in 79 matches, scoring 5,090 runs with 11 tons and 30 half-centuries.

The former Bengal captain played 12 ODI and three T20I for India between 2008 and 2015 but hasn't gotten enough chances to build an international career upon it. He can be considered as one of the unluckiest batsmen in the history of India, not for scoring runs and breaking records but if a cricket fan follows him regularly how he runs the game.

Test Record: Highest individual score by any batter in an innings in Test

Wiaan Mulder, captaining South Africa for the first time in only his 21st Test, posted the fifth-highest individual Test score by blasting an unbeaten 367 off 334 balls in Bulawayo against Zimbabwe. But Mulder, only 33 runs away from Brian Lara's 21-year world-record score of 400*.

Along the way, Mulder also became the 29th Test cricketer and only the second South African - after Hashim Amla (311 not out) in 2012 - to score a triple-century.

Let's take a look at the Test record of highest individual score by any batter in an innings in Test.

Test Record: Highest individual score by any batter in an innings in Test

Standing in as captain in the second Test against Zimbabwe, Wiaan Mulder ended the first day on 264. On the second day, he quickly became the first South African captain and second player after Hashim Amla to record a Test triple ton, reaching there with a flick to deep square leg. Mulder raced to 367* at lunch on day two but declared soon after. He faced 334 balls and smashed 49 fours and four sixes in his innings.

Mulder had every chance to overhaul Lara's record of 400 but chose not to go for it. But he did break a number of records on his way to an unbeaten 367.

4. Mahela Jayawardene | 374 vs South Africa (2006)

Test Record: Highest individual score by any batter in an innings in Test

In 2006, the then-Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene came mighty close to overhauling the Test record for the highest score. South Africa batted first in the opening Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo and were skittled for 169. Sri Lanka slipped to 14 for 2 inside four overs, but then Kumar Sangakkara and Jayawardene took the field.

The duo added a world-record 624 runs for the third wicket. Sangakkara's innings ended on 287 on the third day but Jayawardene became just the second Sri Lanka batter to record a triple century. He reached there with a drive through covers off 491 balls. He fell on 374 to Andre Nel. Jayawardene faced 572 balls and hit 43 fours and a six during his innings.

3. Brian Lara | 375 vs England (1994)

Test Record: Highest individual score by any batter in an innings in Test

In 1994, it was 25-year-old Brian Lara who etched his name in the record books by breaking Sir Garfield Sobers' long-standing Test record. Having already taken a 3-1 lead in the five-match series, West Indies went into the fifth Test against England brimming with confidence.

The hosts slipped to 12 for 2 inside but then Lara owned the stage. He reached his century on day one before tripling it by the end of day two. On day three, he overhauled Sobers' 365* with a pull off fast bowler Chris Lewis. Lara finally fell for 375 off 538 balls, smashing 45 fours during his knock.

2. Matthew Hayden | 380 vs Zimbabwe (2003)

Test Record: Highest individual score by any batter in an innings in Test

Zimbabwe had a bowl in the first Test against Australia at the WACA, in Perth, a decision they would later regret. Matthew Hayden opened the innings and for the next 146-odd overs, he sent the Zimbabwe bowlers to all corners of the WACA.

Hayden became only the fourth Australia batter to reach a triple century in Test cricket when he pushed Heath Streak to mid-off, reaching the mark in 362 balls on the second day. It didn't take him long to overhaul Lara's record for the highest Test score by pushing Ray Price to long-on as the whole of WACA was on its feet. Hayden failed to reach the 400 mark though falling on 380, his innings consisting of 38 fours and 11 sixes.

1. Brian Lara | 400* vs England (2004)

Test Record: Highest individual score by any batter in an innings in Test

Brian Lara had done it once and held the record for more than nine years before Matthew Hayden broke it. So, he decided to do it again, both times against England, both times in Antigua.

Lara reached his century off 131 balls, his double ton off 260 and then his triple century in 404 balls. And then on the third morning, six months after losing his record for the highest Test score, Lara reclaimed it with a fine sweep off spinner Gareth Batty, going past Hayden's 380.

It didn't take him long to become the first and so far, the only batter in Test history to reach 400 test runs. He finished unbeaten on 400 off 582 balls, his innings laced with 43 fours and four sixes as West Indies declared.

ENG vs IND 3rd Test: England Playing XI for Lord’s Test announced

A day before the third match of the ENG vs IND Test series, the England cricket team unveiled its playing XI for the historic match to be held at Lord's.

After the crushing defeat in the Edgbaston Test against Team India, the England cricket team is looking quite restless and troubled. After such a bad defeat at home, Ben Stokes' team is hoping to take the lead in the series again.

Archer made a comeback after 4 years

For this, captain Stokes and coach Brendon McCullum have made a big decision. England has announced the playing XI for the ENG vs IND third match of the Test series starting on Thursday, July 10 at Lord's, and one change has been made in it. After a gap of 4 years, star fast bowler Jofra Archer returned to the Test playing 11.

After the defeat in the Edgbaston Test, it was believed that there would be a change in the playing XI, but there was curiosity about which player would return. Apart from Archer, England also had the option of Gus Atkinson. While Archer was returning to Test cricket after a long time, Atkinson was injured in the month of May and was recalled to the squad only for the Lord's Test.

The pair of Stokes and McCullum decided to give preference to Archer's fast speed and ability to get bounce for this test. With this, Archer is making a comeback in Test cricket after about 4 years and 5 months. Coincidentally, his last Test match was also against Team India, when he was part of the Ahmedabad Test in February 2021.

Tongue out of the Playing XI

The surprising thing is that the bowler in whose place Archer was selected in the playing XI has taken the most wickets in the ENG vs IND series so far. The English team has decided to exclude young pacer Josh Tongue from the Lord's Test.

Tongue has taken the most wickets in this series so far, 11. However, one reason for this is his lack of control over line length, due to which he was proving to be quite expensive.

India beat hosts England by 336 runs in the second Test to level the five-match Test series 1-1. However, in a twist that no one saw coming, it was India who ended up obliterating the hosts, hammering them on the back of an extraordinary performance.

As the Men in Blue moves to the hallowed turf of Lord’s for the third Test starting July 10, let's take a look at the most test wickets taken by Indian bowlers at Lord's.

Let's take a look at the detailed summary of the games played by different eras of both teams.

1932-1967: England dominated the early stages

The Indian team, led by C.K. Nayudu, faced a loss by 158 runs in their first match at Lord's against England. The English captain, Douglas Jardine, played a key role in securing this one, along with good team efforts.

Following the 1932 defeat, India lost 5 consecutive matches in the years: 1936, 1946, 1952, 1952, 1959, and 1957. They lacked consistency as a team and were unable to make things right again.

On the other hand, England dominantly made their mark at the iconic venue, winning matches by huge margins.

1971: A much-needed draw for India

After being defeated multiple times, and England acquiring the undefeatable title, India finally saw a ray of hope in 1971. This was the first time a match was drawn in the 39 years of defeats faced by India at Lord's.

Ajit Wadekar was captaining the Indian side during the tour, and he was also the highest-scoring batsman in the first innings. Bowlers like Srinivas Venkataraghavan, Bishan Singh Bedi, and Bhagwat Chandrasekhar brilliantly tackled the English line-up to secure this much-needed draw.

1974-1982: India's struggle to get a hold of momentum

After the draw in 1971, England shattered all the hopes of Indian fans with a huge victory in 1974. Batting first, ENG set a massive total of 629 runs, with the help of 3 centurions and 96 runs from John Edrich.

They bowled out India for 302 and 42 in the first and second innings (respectively) and sealed the win by an innings and 258 runs.

The year 1979 saw another draw between both teams. India's star player, Dilip Vengsarkar, smashed a century which saved India from the face of another defeat and also earned him the POTM title.

However, England kept coming back stronger after the drawn matches. Despite great efforts from Kapil Dev, who scored 41 & 89 runs in the match, and picked 8 wickets overall, India could not save the match in 1982.

A hundred from Vengsarkar, a half-century from Mohinder Amarnath, along wicket-taking spells of Chetan Sharma and the skipper were some vital performances that made a huge difference in the end.

The 2018 Lord's test between India and England was a one-sided affair. After the rain-affected first day, India collapsed for just 107 in their first innings, largely due to James Anderson's 5/20.

England then posted a commanding 396/7 declared, with Chris Woakes scoring an unbeaten 137. In their second innings, Anderson continued his wicket-taking spells, picking up another 4. As a result, the struggling Indian side was bowled out for 130.

England secured a decisive victory by an innings and 159 runs.

The 2021 Lord's Test marked a historic triumph for India, under the phenomenal leadership of Virat Kohli. His passion and consistently backing his team up proved to be vital in turning the tide of a match that seemed to be slipping away.

The match was a rollercoaster of emotions. India's first innings saw a brilliant partnership between Rohit Sharma (scored 83 runs) and KL Rahul (scored 129 runs) that helped them reach a total of 364 runs.

After England took a first-innings lead of 27 runs, India soared higher in the second innings, declaring at 298/8. The final day witnessed an extraordinary display of Indian fast bowling.

After a fiery spell from Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami, it was Mohammed Siraj, whose precise line and length ripped through England's batting line-up.

England were bowled out for just 120, handing India a memorable 151-run victory. With this victory, Kohli became the third Indian captain to achieve a Test win against England at Lord's, following the footsteps of Kapil Dev (1986) and MS Dhoni (2014).
