The journey of IPL 2022 commences from 26 March across various venues in India. Along with new teams, new players, and a new format, this season seems to not only be entertaining but also a successful one. This article focuses on the most matches in IPL by a player and these players are some of the biggest names of the T20 league.
1. MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni is one of the biggest names in IPL history. From winning numerous matches for Chennai Super Kings to lifting the trophy thrice, Dhoni became one of the strongest pillars of the team. Since the inaugural season of IPL, Dhoni is playing for Chennai Super Kings except for the time when the franchise got banned. During those years Dhoni shifted to Rising Pune Supergiants and soon started playing for CSK later. Till IPL 2021, the CSK captain played in 220 matches and aggregated 4746 runs.
2. Dinesh Karthik
Dinesh Karthik remained a part of several franchises in these 14 seasons of IPL. He played for Delhi Daredevils, Gujarat Lions, Kings XI Punjab, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Kolkata Knight Riders. From 2008 to 2021, he played in 213 matches where he scored 4046 runs. The former KKR captain will be seen playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise in the upcoming IPL 2022.
3. Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma is undoubtedly one of the most successful captains of IPL and is leading the most successful franchise, Mumbai Indians. He became the captain of Mumbai Indians in 2013 and since then the team won the trophy 5 times. Before playing for Mumbai Indians, Rohit was seen in the Deccan Chargers franchise. Till 2021, IPL Rohit featured in 213 matches and aggregated 5611 runs with his highest score being 109*.
4. Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli is playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore since his first IPL season, 2008. In 2013, the franchise appointed him as the skipper of the team and he continued his captaincy streak till IPL 2021. Since 2008, Kohli featured in 207 matches and aggregated the highest total runs, 6283 runs with his highest individual score being 113.
5. Suresh Raina

After playing in 205 IPL matches, Suresh Raina sits at the fifth position on this list. From 2008 to 2021, he played for Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat lions during the time CSK got banned. Raina aggregated 5528 runs during these years and also was one of the strongest pillars of CSK. Unfortunately, none of the teams bid for him in the 2022 IPL mega auction.
6. Ravindra Jadeja
Ravindra Jadeja completed his 200th IPL match last year and will be seen playing his 201st match this year in IPL 2022. Jadeja has always proved himself to be a crucial part of the Chennai Super Kings franchise. He joined CSK in 2012 but had to leave midways and play for Gujarat Lions as CSK was banned for 2 years. Once again in 2018, he re-joined CSK and still continues to be a strong member of the team. Before CSK, Jadeja has also played for Rajasthan Royals and Kochi Tuskers Kerala.
7. Robin Uthappa

Robin Uthappa started his IPL journey in 2008 and since then he played 193 matches till the last year. We all saw him playing for numerous franchises like Pune Warriors, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, and Chennai Super Kings. He will remain a part of the CSK franchise in the upcoming IPL 2022
8. Shikhar Dhawan
Shikhar Dhawan sits at the 8th position on this list after finishing 192 matches in his IPL journey. He was seen playing with Deccan Chargers, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils, and Delhi Capitals from 2008 to last year where he aggregated a total of 5784 runs. In fact, he is the second cricketer after Virat Kohli to score the second-highest overall runs in IPL history. He will be seen now playing for Punjab Kings.
9. AB de Villiers

AB de Villiers started his journey in this T20 league in 2008 with Delhi Daredevils. He joined Royal Challengers Bangalore and played his last season in 2021. In these 14 years, he played in 184 matches and aggregated 5162 runs. In fact, he is the third-highest individual run-scorer in IPL. He holds this record after scoring 133* against Mumbai Indians.
10. Kieron Pollard
Kieron Pollard is playing for Mumbai Indians since the IPL 2010. He played 178 matches in these 12 seasons where he aggregated 3268 runs for the franchise.
