Royal Challengers Bangalore bowler Harshal Patel has broken Mumbai Indians pacer, Jasprit Bumrah's record of most wickets in an IPL season by an Indian player. He achieved the feat during RCB's match against SRH in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. Harshal had figures of 3/33 in his four overs against the Sunrisers. He picked up the crucial wickets of Kane Williamson, Wriddhiman Saha, and Jason Holder. In the process, he overtook Bumrah's haul of 27 wickets he claimed during MI's 5th title win last year.

Moreover, Harshal is just three wickets away from matching the all-time record of 32 wickets held by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder, Dwayne Bravo. Since RCB has qualified for the playoffs, Harshal has a golden chance of making the record to his name.
On Wednesday, it was another slower-ball fiesta that worked for Harshal. The track in Abu Dhabi looked good for batting until the halfway mark. After that, the spinners and the slower-balls came into play and Harshal reaped the rewards.
First, he broke the 70-run partnership between Williamson and Jason Roy by dismissing Kane. He then came back to deceive Wriddhiman Saha before finishing off a fine day's bowling. Meanwhile, he finishes his day with the wicket of Holder on the last ball of the innings.
Harshal was rather unlucky since he conceded a few boundaries off inside-edges and overthrows. Although, that didn't take anything away from the record he achieved. SRH eventually set a target of 142 runs in 20 overs. However, if there's any team that can defend low totals, it's the Hyderabad franchise.
