Agniv Pan was touted as one of the futures of Bengal cricket as a wicket-keeper batter even two years ago. He was the best choice to replace Wriddhiman Saha with the gloves for the Bengal team in the domestic circuit. But, things changed for him post 2019 season as he was dropped from the Bengal team. Although, he kept on doing what he does best; scoring runs when needed the most. The southpaw again proved his worth with a fighting 195 in the CAB 1st Division League final against Kalighat. His inning was one of the main reasons that Bhawanipore was able to knock the Kalighat team easily in the final. Agniv shared his thoughts in an exclusive interview with Sportz Point.
"Is this one of your best innings?" "YES, it is," Agniv answered . "This is one of my best just because it came in the final and it helped us win the match," he added. "Earlier I had scored a 95 in a final, but this is special for me as scoring nearly 200 in a final is never easy."

Agniv came into the crease when Bahwanipore was 132 for 3 and the match could have gone anywhere from then on, with Kalighat pacers with their tail on. The wicket-keeper batter then steadied the ship for his team as one of his plans was to "bat as long as possible." "We knew if we can bat till the end of the day, they will be out of the game. However, with the amount of help pacers were getting every now and then, we needed to be cautious on every ball," Pan told Sportz Point.
Despite being cautious, Agniv and his partners were looking to score runs as they did not wanted to get bog down. "Look, we had to balance it out. You never know what will happen. Me and Arindam (Ghosh) tried to be busy out there. Then later with Amir (Gani), we decided to take them on whenever there was a lose ball."
Just like many other players in his team, Agniv is also looking to make a comeback in the first-class arena. However, the only thing he is focusing on is his process. He feels with the hunger he has now to make the comeback, if he can follow the process he will surely be on track.
"We all want to represent Bengal. That's the goal. But, I only want to do things that are in my hand. I want to focus on my game. And I am getting results with that. So, the focus is really on what is on my hand. The team management and selectors will decide if I am ready to make the comeback or not."
Agniv Pan
The last time Pan had featured in a red ball game for Bengal was in 2018. Since then he has played 4 List-A matches and 5 T20 matches for Bengal. After having a great season with Bhawanipore, he is now hopeful that his time at the top will come again. "The hunger is there. This is the most important thing for me," Pan added.
