Pakistan have a golden opportunity to become the no.1 ODI team by defeating Afghanistan in the ongoing third and final ODI match. They are currently sitting in the number 2 position. Currently, both Pakistan and Australia have a rating of 118 each to their credit, but the Aussies' better overall points have helped them become the numero one. If Pakistan manages to beat Afghanistan, it will take their rating over to that of Australia. Since the rating is the first criterion of ranking, the overall points could not play any role once Pakistan wins the game and improves their rating.
