In the second match of the three-Test series of PAKvENG, England defeated Pakistan by 26 runs to take the series 2-0. For the second consecutive Test match, England beat Pakistan at home.

The England team scored 281 runs in their first innings after winning the toss and batting first in Multan. In response, the host Pakistani team scored only 202 runs. In this way, the England team got a significant lead of 79 runs on the basis of the first innings. After this, in their second innings also, England scored a strong score of 275 runs, due to which they set a target of 335 runs in front of Pakistan. In response to this target, the Pakistan team scored 328 runs in the second session of the fourth day of the game.

From the beginning of the fourth day of the PAKvENG series in front of the Pakistani team chasing the target, the England bowlers kept their screws tight. Mark Wood took the maximum four wickets for the team, while James Anderson and Ollie Robinson took two wickets each. At the same time, Jack Leach and Joe Root got one wicket each.

Earlier, spinner Abrar Ahmed, who made his debut in the first innings for Pakistan, took 7 wickets in the match while bowling brilliantly. Although Abrar definitely showed excellency in bowling, but in batting, apart from captain Babar Azam and Saud Shakeel, no one was able to play a big innings for Pakistan.

On the other hand, England after taking a lead of 79 runs in the first innings, presented a tough challenge to the Pakistani bowlers in their second innings. Opener batsman Zak Crawley got out after scoring three runs but his partner Ben Duckett held the innings. After this, Will Jacks and Joe Root also came to bat, but they were dismissed cheaply. While coming to bat at number five, Harry Brook got his foot on the crease.

Brooks played an excellent innings of 108 runs in 149 balls for England. In which he also hit 14 fours and a six. At the same time, England captain Ben Stokes played a strong inning of 41 runs. Due to which the team was able to score 275 runs. Meanwhile, due to the injury of opener Imam-ul-Haq in the fourth innings, Pakistan had to change its strategy in batting. Mohammad Rizwan opened the innings with Abdullah Shafique in place of Imam which didn't prove to be effective at all. Rizwan's innings was just 30 runs while Shafiq got out after scoring 45 runs.

Although Saud Shakeel definitely tried to handle the innings. But he returned to the pavilion after scoring 94 runs. As soon as Saud was out, Pakistan's remaining hopes also ended. In the second session of the fourth day, Pakistan somehow managed to reach a score of 328 runs. And in this way, England won the match by 26 runs. The third and last match of the PAKvENG series will be played in Karachi from 17 December.
