Ranji Trophy 2021-22: Bengal coach Arun Lal feels 5-6 players from his team will play for India in the next 3 years

Bengal head coach Arun Lal said in an interview with Sportskeeda that at least 5-6 cricketers from the Bengal team will represent the Indian national team in the next 3 years. The Bengal team reached the Ranji Trophy final in 2020 after a long 13-year gap. With some breakthrough victories, the team came second after Saurashtra defeated them in the finals. They are doing well in Ranji Trophy 2021-22 too with cohesive and complete team performance.

On being asked about his team and his aim, he said that their main goals are to win trophies and prepare the players for the India A and the India National team. He also believes that some players will be playing the national team in the upcoming years. "Lots of them. Bengal cricket has two main objectives at this stage – one is to win major trophies and the other is to prepare a strong supply line for India A and the senior national team. Mukesh Kumar certainly deserves a national call-up. He's not recognized enough for his performances. Shahbaz Ahmed is close to earning a national call-up."

He further added, "Even Akash Deep has a great chance because he's the fastest bowler in India at the moment and he moves the ball exceedingly well. In fact, when the ball gets old in the middle overs, he's as good as any other bowler in the country. Abhimanyu is already there. Among the batters, I think Abhishek Porel is another great prospect. There are five or six of them."
