In the latest ICC Test bowling rankings released on Wednesday, Ashwin is ranked first in the list of Test bowlers with 860 points. Ashwin, despite being overlooked for the World Test Championship final against Australia earlier this month, retained his status as the number-one bowler. While Australian captain Pat Cummins (828 points) has moved up two places to reach the second position.

Meanwhile, India's Ravindra Jadeja continues to top the all-rounders' list with 434 points. Ashwin also remains at the second position in this list but Axar Patel has slipped to the fifth position. Wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant, who has been away from cricket since he was injured in a car accident in December last year, is India's top batsman at number 10. Captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are at 12th and 14th position respectively. Shubman Gill is fifth in the rankings for ODI batsmen, while Kohli is eighth and Rohit is tenth. Mohammad Siraj is the only Indian in the top-10 in the list of bowlers. Siraj is at number two.

Former England Test captain Root has slipped to fifth, leaving Williamson as the number one batsman once again. Williamson reached the top of the rankings for the sixth time. He got the top ranking for the first time in November 2015. He last became the number-one batsman in August 2021. Australia's Steve Smith has jumped four places to reach the second position. Smith last held the top ranking in June 2021 by overtaking Williamson.
