Royal Challengers Bangalore

Royal Challengers Bangalore haven't started the campaign as their fans expected. They lost their first game to CSK, then won against PBKS but KKR dominated and destroyed them in their first home game of the season. The performances haven't been up to the mark and these are not good signs for the franchise. Faf du Plessis has failed to replicate his first match performance in the next two games which has put extra pressure upon Virat Kohli's shoulders.

Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell did contribute with the runs to the scoreboard against KKR but threw away their wickets at the end. Anuj Rawat hasn't scored runs after his first match performance while DK has consistently scored runs after coming down the under to bat.

Mohammed Siraj is having a poor season and has to make a strong comeback or it will be very tough for RCB to continue him further in the playing xi. Vyshak Vijay Kumar bowled brilliantly in front of KKR's batters and he was the only positive for RCB from the last game. Alzarri Joseph is clearly a flop in the Indian Premier League and Bangalore should consider Reece Topley or Ferguson against LSG. RCB would like to put in some team effort this time around or they'll face their third loss of the season.

Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants are finally relieved, registering their first win of the season. Quinton de Kock finally looked sharp and scored a half-century in the match against PBKS but Kl Rahul and Paddikal's struggle continues. Marcus Stoinis is also a mystery so far this season as he has been inconsistent in every department. On the other side, Pooran has consistently scored runs after coming down the under to bat. Krunal Pandya is having an underrated season. He is either contributing with the bat or ball in every game.

LSG have found a real gem and it is Mayank Yadav. The fast bowler is actually fast and not only fast but his strict line and length impress the fans. He picked up 3 wickets in the previous game and would be hoping to remain consistent throughout the season. Mohsin Khan has also bowled well so far this season and he will lead the pace attack alongside Mayank. Naveen-ul-Haq has never been the standout performer for LSG and they might consider someone else as the Afghan is failing consistently to drop a good spell. They should finally include the 24-year-old Shamar Josepth in their system as he might be the missing piece of the puzzle.

The Women's Premier League (WPL) Auction 2025 will take place on 15th December 2024 in Bengaluru. The are 82 Indian uncapped players and 8 uncapped overseas players in the auction list.

With most of the franchises holding their core group of players, 19 slots will be up for grabs, with 5 slots reserved for overseas players.

Only 3 players were listed in the bracket of the highest base price of INR 50 lakhs while 28 players will be auctioned starting with their base price of INR 30 lakhs. 

West Indian all-rounder Deandra Dottin, England batter Heather Knight, and South African wicket-keeper batter Lizelle Lee will enter the auction with the highest base price of INR 50 lakhs.

In the first set of 20 marquee players, Australia's Darcie Brown and Kim Garth, England's Lauren Bell and Sarah Glenn and India's Sneh Rana can go for big bucks during the WPL 2025 auction.

From the Cricket Association of Bengal, only two players have been able to make it to the list. Priyanka Bala, who was already with the Mumbai Indians squad, has found herself on the list. Along with her, young all-rounder Sushmita Ganguly will also be auctioned with a base price of INR 10 lakhs.

Virat Kohli’s unusual dismissal in the Australia vs India 2nd Test in Adelaide has raised concerns over his current form. This year has been challenging for him. Head, who opened his account with a brilliant four against Jasprit Bumrah (four wickets for 59 runs) on the second day of the day-night Test match, completed the eighth century of his Test career in 111 balls. Mohammad Siraj gave him life by taking a catch on Ashwin's ball at the score of 76 runs.

Head was troubled by Bumrah's balls in the beginning of the innings but he did not let the pressure dominate him by continuing to score runs by attacking other bowlers.

Brilliant fifty by Labuschagne 

Marnus Labuschagne was not in form for a long time and before this match, there was debate about his place in the team. He had started troubling India with the 26th half-century of his Test career when Yashasvi Jaiswal took a brilliant catch on the ball of young all-rounder Nitish Reddy and ended his innings.

While experienced Steve Smith (two), who came to the crease, failed even once with the bat. He was caught by Pant while trying to flick the ball of Bumrah.

"Congrats to Vaihav. He is a great talent we all know. I have been watching him since he got the chance in the Bihar U-19 team. Watching this kid grow as a player, has been remarkable for me and everyone in Bihar," Ashok Kumar told Sportz Point.

"But, I want to thank and congratulate everyone associated with Bihar Cricket Association for identifying this talent and giving him a chance so early in his career," he added.

Vaibhav from his early days had the skill and temperament to dominate senior bowlers and score big runs. He burst onto the scene with an unbeaten 332 in a U-19 tournament in Bihar;  Randhir Verma Tournament. Ashok Kumar wants Vaibhav to continue with the intent which has helped him so far.

"I have been fortunate to coach the Bihar U-19 and senior team and have seen him up and close in the last few years. I know, with time, many teams will try to watch out for a weakness in his batting. But, the only thing that I always advise him is to keep the intent he has as a batter. He is not afraid of any bowler and his natural ability to hit bowlers will take him very far in his career," Ashok Kumar expressed.

Vaibhav's father Sanjeev Suryavanshi has been his formal coach. He also consults Wasim Jaffer from time to time for advice, whom he had met during a U-19 tournament in Bangladesh in November 2023. Luckily for the youngster, he will now be coached by former Indian Men's team head coach Rahul Dravid, who has developed many U-19 stars into future Indian players during his time with the U-19 and senior team.

Also, Rahul Dravid and Rajasthan Royals were the franchise that gave young Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag an early chance in the Indian Premier League to showcase their talent. Ashok Kumar feels, that having Rahul Dravid as his coach will only enhance him as an overall player and a human being.

"With Rahul Dravid sir, we all know Vaibhav will learn a lot of great things about his game and I feel his time at the Rajasthan Royals will help him be more disciplined as well. Rajasthan Royals have helped a lot of young players in the past and I am hopeful Vaibhav will also emerge as one of the stars from the franchise," Ashok Kumar stated.

"Vaibhav's presence in the Indian Premier League and the U-19 team will influence many kids in the state to play cricket. They will now believe that if you have the talent and work hard on it, anyone can play at the highest level even from states like Bihar. I feel, a brighter time coming for Bihar State Cricket, via champion players like Vaibhav."
