RR vs SRH: Abdul Samad's final over storm drove Sunrisers Hyderabad to a 4-wicket win

Anmolpreet Singh and Abhishek Sharma gave Sunrisers Hyderabad a decent start in the 215-run chase against Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2023 encounter in Jaipur. The pair added 51 before Yuzvendra Chahal provided the hosts with the first breakthrough. Abhishek carried on and went to score 55(34) before getting out to R Ashwin. Henrich Klaasen and Rahul Tripathi played blistering knocks while Glenn Phillips & Abdul Samad took them to a huge victory. Meanwhile, Jos Buttler, who struggled in recent outings, roared back to form as he smashed a 59-ball 95 to power Rajasthan to a staggering 214/2 in 20 overs after they opted to bat. Skipper Sanju Samson, returned unbeaten on 66(38). Together the duo added 138 runs for the second wicket after Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal gave Rajasthan an explosive start. Jaiswal & Buttler started off in style

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to bat first. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler kicked off the proceedings for Rajasthan Royals while Bhuvneshwar Kumar led the attack for SRH. RR started off by scoring 9 runs in the first over. Marco Jansen bowled the second over and 17 runs came off it. Rajasthan showed their motive right from the start and the openers continued this for the next few overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal became the joint second-fastest to enter the 1K-run club in the Indian Premier League. He also became the second youngest batter to score 1000 IPL runs. Marco Jansen struck in the 5th over as Yashasvi Jaiswal handed a simple catch to Natarajan at short third-man. He departed for 35 runs after getting off to a great start. Rajasthan Royals scored 61 runs in the powerplay.

Jos Buttler & Sanju Samson paired up to put up a mammoth total

Skipper Sanju Samson accompanied Jos Buttler and built a partnership based on the fiery start. Jos Buttler continued hitting boundaries and Samson also didn't take long to join the party. Rajasthan Royals scored 107 runs after the end of the first 10 overs. Jos Buttler completed his half-century in just 32 deliveries. He needed this inning to make a comeback after some run droughts. Buttler then welcomed Marco Jansen with a couple of boundaries. 12 runs came off the 15th over as Rajasthan Royals reached 154/1.

Sanju Samson also brought up his half-century. He reached the milestone in 33 deliveries. Jos Buttler missed out on a well-deserved century as Bhuvneshwar Kumar trapped him LBW for 95(59). Samson then ended the over with another four as Rajasthan Royals posted 214/2 in 20 overs. Samson returned unbeaten on 66(38).

Anmolpreet Singh & Abhishek Sharma started the chase in a positive way

Anmolpreet Singh & Abhishek Sharma came to open while Sandeep Sharma started with the new ball. Chasing the target of 215, Sunrisers Hyderabad got off to a stable and fine start. Anmolpreet Singh came as an impact player to open the chase and he did pretty well. Anmolpreet Singh and Abhishek Sharma combined to hit Sandeep Sharma for three boundaries in the fifth over. 15 runs came off it as SRH reached 45/0. Yuzvendra Chahal came to bowl the final over of the powerplay and he started with a couple of dots against Anmolpreet Singh. He then got rid of Anmolpreet in the fifth ball, who was caught by Shimron Hetmyer at deep mid-wicket. The batter fell for 33(25) as Hyderabad lost their first wicket. They managed to score 51 runs in the power play.

After a couple of tight overs, Hyderabad got the chance to open their hands. Murugan Ashwin came into the attack and he was smoked for a six by Rahul Tripathi. Abhishek Sharma then hit the spinner for a boundary as 14 runs came off the over. SRH reached 87-1 after the end of 10 overs. Abhishek Sharma kept it moving as he dispatched a short delivery for a maximum over the mid-wicket fence. The pair of Abhishesk and Rahul also added a 50-plus stand. Ashwin came to bowl his final over and got rid of him in the next ball as he attempted another big hit but his shot was collected by Yuzvendra Chahal at short third. He departed for 55(34).

A couple of cameos helped Hyderabad to keep their hopes alive for the chase

Kuldip Yadav was back into the attack and he bowled an exceptional over until Henrich Klaasen hit the pacer for a boundary in his final delivery.10 runs came in his over as SRH reached 146/2 in 15 overs. Chahal then removed Klaasen in the fifth delivery and he departed after playing a short cameo of 26(12). Rahul Tripathi smashed Obed McCoy for a maximum and Aiden Markram then finished the over with a boundary. 13 runs came off his over as SRH reached 171/3 in 17 overs.

Yuzvendra Chahal came to bowl his final over and he did the job for his skipper. Rahul Tripathi went for the slog sweep, which was collected by Yashasvi Jaiswal right before the boundary ropes. He departed for 47(29). The spinner piled more miseries on SRH as he trapped Aiden Markram LBW for 6(5). Three runs and two wickets came in the over as SRH reached 174/5 in 18 overs.

Glenn Phillips hit Kuldip Yadav for a hattrick of sixes, then followed it up with a boundary. Kuldeep dismissed Phillips in the fifth ball as he tried to attempt another big hit but was caught by Shimron Hetmyer inside the 30-yard circle. SRH scored198/6 in 19 overs. They needed 17 runs in the last 6 balls to win the match. Sandeep Sharma got the responsibility to bowl the final over with Abdul Samad on strike Samad smashed a six in the second delivery and got a double in the third ball. The fourth and fifth balls resulted in a couple of singles. Five runs were required in the final ball and Abdul Samad was in strike.

Samad was caught at long-on by Jos Buttler but the siren blows as Sandeep overstepped. Freehit delivery as the equation reduced to 4 off 1. Abdul Samad then connected the final delivery for a six as he dispatched the ball straight over the bowler's head for a maximum. SRH beat RR by four wickets as Samad returned unbeaten on 17 off 7 balls. The win also kept SRH alive in the playoff race.

When it comes to hitting sixes in IPL, there is Chris Gayle, and then there's everyone else. This West Indies legend tops the chart for most sixes hit by any batter in IPL history with 357 sixes (in just 141 innings)!

Gayle's IPL journey spanned from 2009 to 2021, and he was the first batsman to cross the 300-mark in terms of sixes. He displayed his batting peak with franchises like KKR, PBKS, and especially RCB.

His most memorable six-hitting moment of IPL came in 2013 when he smashed 175* runs off 66 balls against PWI, hitting 17 explosive sixes.

The hitman doesn't like to take things slow, and always delivers the ball out of the boundary with his powerful pulls and cover drives. Once he gets in his six-hitting zone, it truly gets difficult to stop him!

Sharma has consistently stood up for the team, and these numbers are about to get high as he will continue to play and dominate in IPL in the future.

He hit 251 sixes (in 170 innings) which tells a lot about his phenomenal skills and love for hitting sixes. He had the ability to deliver the ball in every corner of the stadium and was called "Mr. 360" for a reason!

India A lost captain Abhimanyu Easwaran early on 8 while Yashasvi Jaiswal went back to the dressing room after adding 24. 

When it looked like that, Rew took the right decision of bowling first, Sarfaraz Khan and Karun Nair put up a 181-run partnership for the third wicket to give India A the advantage after Day 1’s play. 

Karun Nair, who last played a test match in 2017, continued his great form and completed his fifty in 85 balls. 

Soon, Sarfraz Khan, who was dropped from the test squad, completed his fifty in 84 balls as well. When both batters were looking to get to the hundred mark first, Sarfraz was caught down the leg side on 92 off 119 balls and missed his ton.

Nair, who was dropped on 89 off Ajeet Singh Dale, completed his 24th first-class ton off 155 balls.
