According to a report, it has been learned that Lanka can lose the hosting rights for the Asia Cup due to the current political tensions. The report suggested that there is a possibility that hosting rights will be transferred to another country.

The schedule of the forthcoming tournament will reportedly be discussed at the quarterly meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC). The high-profile meeting will take place in April in Dubai.

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) had earlier announced that Asia Cup 2022 will be held in Sri Lanka from 27 August to 11 September 2022. For the second time since the tournament's inception, the Asia Cup will be played in the T20 format this year. The previous edition of the Asia Cup was won by India. Team India has been the most successful side in the history of the Asia Cup.
