T20 World Cup 2021 witnessed many cricketers achieving their career-best landmarks. One of these cricketers is Mohammad Shahzad from Afghanistan. On 31st October 2021, the Afghanistan opener Mohammad Shahzad played the 45 run knock against Namibia and reached the 2000 run mark in T20Is. Also, he became the first cricketer from his country to reach the milestone.

Till now featured in 68 T20I innings and aggregated 2011 runs with an average of 30.93 and a strike rate of 134. To achieve this feat, he also smashed 12 half-centuries and 1 century in T20I so far. Shahzad has the potential and could have achieved this landmark long ago. Unfortunately, he was in a long 3-year absence from the Afghanistan T20 team. After 2018, this tournament was the first time he played a T20 International match on T20 World Cup 2021.
Up next is captain Mohammad Nabi with 1474 runs in the shortest format of the sport. He is the second leading run-scorer of Afghanistan in T20I cricket with a strike rate of 145. The third-leading scorer of Afghanistan in t20i is Asghar Afghan. Also, Asghar is the former skipper of the Afghanistan cricket team.

Also, yesterday's match was the farewell match of Asghar Afghan. Asghar came to bat after Shahzad's 45-run knock ended in the 13th over. And the Namibian cricket team gave him a guard of honor during the match.
