Tamim Iqbal is looking to come back in competitive cricket following a long break from the sport due to his injury. He had to stay away from cricket for this long time because of the side strain that he faced while playing against Pakistan in a home series.
The Bangladesh ODI captain had to miss out playing the 2021 T20 World Cup but he was ready to return in the Everest Premier League. Unfortunately, he had to postpone his return to cricket as he once again suffered an injury blow with a fracture to his left thumb. He again decided to return to the National Cricket League but could not as his scan showed a new fracture on his injured thumb. In addition, he missed the New Zealand tour too as he was recovering at that moment.
The left-handed batter practiced and batted in the nets for half an hour on Monday after 6th October. He played for about half an hour against the spinners and also had throwdowns in the nets at the BCB indoor facility. Tamim will slowly work on increasing his training's intensity and will look into being a part of the BCL one-day tournament.
Tamim Iqbal told Cricbuzz, "I am batting after a while and there is some pain but with time it will heal totally and I have to go through it. Later I will increase the intensity of my training like batting against pace bowlers and all that, and at that point, I can understand where I stand. Let's see if I can take part in the BCL one-day tournament."
BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury on the situation:
BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury said, "This is part of his rehabilitation program. He was expected to bat from November 20 and he did that. He is playing against slow bowlers and later his intensity will increase. We are expecting him to take part in the BCL one-day format."
Mustafizur Rahman is also on his way to return to competitive cricket after recovering from the side strain he faced during a 3-match series against Pakistan. Debashish Chowdhury also revealed that Mustafizur is bowling with 50 percent intensity. Debashish added, "Mustafizur is bowling with 50 percent intensity. He is bowling with a short run-up and a lesser pace. He will do gym sessions and increase his intensity in bowling gradually. At the moment he is not feeling any pain while bowling."
