In an interview with Cricbuzz, Harsha Bhogle and Joy Bhattacharjya reacted to Kohliโs announcement.
While some find it shocking and surprising, Harsha Bhogle is quite optimistic about this decision. He is even wondering from the past two years whether Kohli shouldnโt just give it away. He believes that these responsibilities are having immense pressure on his mind and body.
Also, he describes the Indian captain as an alpha male as Kohli believes in being the best and leading from the front. Bhogle appreciated the leading nature of Kohli. He found the decision of leaving captaincy of RCB inevitable after his decision of stepping down from the Indian teamโs T20I captaincy.
Bhogle also picked up the point that Kohli has not brought RCB any title yet. He also feels that he wonโt be surprised if Kohli returns to his position of captaincy. The Indian commentator perceives that Viratโs personal life is leading him to look at his life differently. According to him, Kohli might be getting hurt to not be able to rank in the top cricketers like prior, and giving up captaincy can help Kohli to excel his batting performances much better than before.
