Former England keeper-batter Alec Stewart comes at number six on this list of players to make a Test appearance at age 40+. Stewart achieved this feat back in the year 2003, while he debuted for England in 1990.

In his 133 Test appearances, Alec has registered 8463 runs in 235 innings at an average of 39.55. Meanwhile, he has also smashed 45 half-centuries and 15 centuries in the longest format of the game. Stewart's last Test appearance was against SA in the same year 2003.

Sachin Tendulkar | 2013

In 164 Test appearances, Chanderpaul has recorded 11, 867 runs in 280 innings at an average of 51.37. Moreover, Chanderpaul has registered 66 half-centuries and 30 tons in the format. His last Test appearance was against England in 2015 at the Oval.

Misbah-ul-Haq | 2014

Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq is the next player on this list. Misbah achieved this milestone in 2014. He is the fourth player to feature on this list of players to make a Test appearance at the age of 40+.

In his 75-match Test career, Misbah has aggregated 5222 runs in 132 innings at an average of 46.62. Misbah has also recorded 39 fifties and 10 hundred in the format. His last Test appearance was against West Indies in 2017 at Windsor Park.

Rangana Herath | 2018

Former Sri Lankan spinner Rangana Herath is the fifth player to feature on this list of players to make a Test appearance at the age of 40+. Herath achieved this feat in 2018. He is the only spinner on this list and also the only Lankan to feature here.

In 93 Test appearances, Herath has scalped 433 wickets at an average of 28.08. Moreover, Herath has 34 five-wicket hauls and 9 Ten-wicket hauls in his Test career. His last Test appearance was against England at his home ground Galle in 2018.

James Anderson | 2022

The sixth and the newest inclusion on this list is England's ace pacer, James Anderson. Anderson achieved this feat against South Africa at the Lord's in 2022. He is playing for the country since 2003, and still. Meanwhile, he is the leading wicket-taker among pacers in the format.

In his 173 Test appearances, Anderson has scalped 658 wickets so far at an average of 26.41. However, Anderson has recorded 32 fifers and 3 ten-for in the longest format of the game.
