Tamil Nadu batter Narayan Jagadeesan on Monday, (November 21) created history and set a new world record during the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 match against Arunachal Pradesh. The right-handed batter became the first batter in history to smash five consecutive centuries in List-A cricket while he also registered the highest-ever individual score in white-ball cricket.

The 26-year-old, who is in a scorching form in India's premier 50-over domestic tournament in 2022, played a stunning knock of 277 runs off 141 balls. During his historic knock, the stylish batter powered 25 fours and 15 sixes and annihilated Arunachal Pradesh's bowling attack at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The Tamil Nadu batter broke Alistair Duncan Brown's 20-year-old record while he also left India captain Rohit Sharma behind.
The Tamil Nadu opener put on 416 runs for the first wicket with Sai Sudharshan, who plays for IPL champions Gujarat Titans. Sudharshan scored 154 runs off 102 balls as TN piled up 506 for 2 in 50 overs after electing to bat first against Arunachal Pradesh.
Jagadeesan has also become the sixth batter in the Vijay Hazare tournament history to score a double century and is the second batter this season to achieve the feat. He got good support from youngster Sai Sudharsan at the other end and was finally dismissed after amassing 277 runs.
The opening partnership of 416 is the highest in List A cricket for the first wicket. Jagadeesan also went past the records of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Virat Kohli, Prithvi Shaw, and Devdutt Padikkal for scoring the most centuries in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in a single.
