Team News | West Indies

With no bigger goal in ODI cricket to look forward to in the recent future, it will be interesting to see how the West Indies team management takes this series against India. The 2027 World Cup qualifiers are far away from now and they are not in the 2023 ODI World Cup as well. Hence as they try to bring back their glory days, the Carreibean team must ensure their plans before that.

The biggest positive for the West Indies team will be that Hetmyer and Oshane Thomas will be back for them in Maroons while they will miss Jason Holder, Nicholas Pooran and Keemo Paul. In that case, a fairly new looked Carrebean team will be out there against India in the first ODI. A look into the future? Only the future will tell us.

Mohammed Siraj has been rested for the entire WI vs IND series. The pacer have flown back to India along with other players like Ajinkyya Rahane and Ravichandran Ashwin.

India's biggest test will be sending the best-possible combination on the field. In recent times, Indian team management have been criticised for their team selection in crunch times. As the rehearsal for the ICC World Cup 2023 starts, players like Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Kuldeep Yadav and others will be under the scanner this time.

With everyone fit and available for the selection, it will be interesting to see India's bowling lineup in the match. Newcomer Mukesh Kumar along with Jaydev Unadkat and Umran Malik will be fighting for the two pace bowling options. Post that, Rohit Sharma will have to choose between Axar Patel or Shardul Thakur to be their third all-rounder along with Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja. Not to mention the fight for the keeper's spot between Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan as well.
