According to TOI, Indian Opener KL Rahul will not be able to play the WI vs IND T20 series, starting from July 29, due to post-infection recovery.
Rahul got injured after the IPL 2022. After that, he was knocked out of the South Africa series at home. He also couldn't play in the Edgbaston Test against England. KL was not available in the T20 and ODI series against England as well. After a long absence from the field, Rahul is likely to return to the game against the West Indies. But that hope is now very low.

Rahul went to Germany for hernia surgery. After returning from there, he was undergoing rehab at the National Cricket Academy. Although he was not included in the WI vs IND ODI series, he was supposed to play in the T20 series. He was scheduled to travel to Trinidad on Saturday, July 23 to play that series. But Rahul faced another obstacle as he tested Covid positive.
According to the sources of the board, Rahul's quarantine period will end on Wednesday but his body is still not ready to take the pressure of playing matches. That is why there is a high possibility that he will not be in the T20 series against West Indies. He can go and join the team at any time. The board, however, feels that he will return against Zimbabwe and not West Indies. In the absence of KL, Rishabh Pant could open alongside Rohit Sharma against the West Indies.
