After the defeat at the hands of Pakistan in the Women’s Asia Cup 2022, India retaliated strongly against Bangladesh. India Women’s Cricket team, led by Smriti Mandhana beat Bangladesh by 59 runs at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

Indian captain Smriti Mandhana won the toss and decided to bat first. In this match, Shafali Verma, Sneh Rana and Kiran Navgire were included in Playing XI in place of Harmanpreet Kaur, D Hemlata, Radha Yadav. Explosive batsman Shafali Verma scored the highest 55 runs for the visiting team and contributed significantly to the team’s victory in the Women’s Asia Cup 2022. The opening pair of captain Mandhana and Shafali also got India off to a bang. Batting quickly in the powerplay itself, they made the partnership of 59 runs in 6 overs. Out of this, 26 runs came from Shafali’s bat and 31 runs came from captain Mandhana.

India scored a total of 159 runs in the allotted 20 overs for the loss of five wickets. Apart from Shafali, Smriti Mandhana (47) and Jemima Rodriguez (35) played brilliant innings. Bangladesh team, who came out to play counter innings, could only score 100 runs in 20 overs for the loss of seven wickets. Captain Nigar Sultana scored 36 runs for the team. For India, Deepti and Shafali took two wickets each. Renuka-Sneh took one wicket each.

This is the fourth win for the Indian women’s cricket team in five matches. The team has made a tremendous comeback after the loss to Pakistan in the last match.
