An astonishing start to a promising career, as Yashasvi Jaiswal brought up a half-century in his debut test cricket match for the Indian national team against West Indies at Dominica. He reached the milestone of 104 balls, after hitting four off Alzarri Joseph. Rohit Sharma confirmed on Tuesday that Jaiswal will open with him while Shubman will come into bat at no 3. Yashasvi Jaiswal didn't disappoint the skipper and the traveling fans with this impressive start.

India were 103 for no loss when Jaiswal reached the milestone. India got off to a brilliant start on day one after they had bowled West Indies out for only 150. Yashasvi Jaiswal broke out into the scene for the callup after a terrific season in the IPL 2023. Not only in the IPL, but he showed everyone his worth in first-class cricket also. Jaiswal had scored 1845 first-class runs at an average of 80.21, with nine hundreds in just 26 innings. He was also the fifth-highest run-getter in IPL 2023, with 625 runs at a strike rate of 163.61.

Yashasvi Jaiswal became the 13th India opener to score a half-century on Test debut. Only two India openers, Shikhar Dhawan in 2013 and Prithvi Shaw in 2018 have scored centuries on Test debut. Can Jaiswal be able to turn his half-century into a tremendous century?
