La Liga Match Preview: Valencia vs Barcelona
Valencia CF:
Valencia showed early promise in the competition and was expected to secure a champions league spot. However, a series of poor performances has dropped them to 12th in the league table. Los Che is in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey, drawing 1-1 with Athletic Bilbao in the first leg of their last-four contest which is a part of the winless run. Valencia amassed a total of 30 points from 24 matches and is now eight points off the top six. So it's a big responsibility in the hands of Jose Bordalas's side to climb up the ladder and secure any European spot.
FC Barcelona:
The Blaugranas on the other hand is having a not too good season this year. Their last match against Napoli was full of disappointing performances from the team. However, a 60th-minute penalty helped Barcelona to snatch a point. Similarly in La Liga, their last match against Espanyol was almost slipping out of their hands; but thanks to Luuk De Jong's 96th minute headed goal which helped Barcelona steal another point. Barcelona is currently sitting at 6th with 39 points from 23 matches. The Catalan side has had a difficult campaign for a number of reasons, but they are very much on course for a top-three finish in La Liga, and winning the Europa League would make it a relatively successful season.
