Marc Roca is a man with a point to prove after only playing 24 times in his last two seasons spent with Bayern Munich. Indeed, after emerging as one of La Liga's best players at the end of the 2019/2020 season following a dazzling display in the Espanyol midfield, few would have expected game time to be so limited for Roca at the Allianz Arena. To a certain extent, even Bayern had anticipated that he would play more but ultimately, the Spaniard was unable to push ahead in the pecking order at one of the world's most star-studded clubs.

With the door seemingly closed in Munich, Roca wasted no time in accepting Leeds United's offer to play in their midfield despite the club forecast to compete at the wrong end of the table again. At least, some of the most popular football bets this season are on Leeds to be relegated having been priced at 13/5 to return to the Championship. This potential eventuality, however, didn't deter Roca from putting pen to paper on a four-year deal at Elland Road with the midfielder now determined to recapture his best form in West Yorkshire.
A summer of hard work
Roca's drive to succeed is so intense that he even took his personal trainer on holiday with him to Ibiza in the build-up to his move to Leeds this summer. Naturally, the Balearic island isn't famed for people going there to get into shape and normally has the opposite effect, but admittedly, these are crucial moments in Roca's career after 24 months of severely limited game time. Admirably, the former Espanyol player seems to be aware that his career is at a crossroads of sorts and is subsequently doing everything he can to make sure that hits the ground running in the world's most competitive league.

Another indication of this commendable dedication to getting back to his best was when Roca was told to report to Thorp Arch for pre-season at the same time as the other international players in the squad which would have, essentially, allowed him another week of holiday. Roca quickly informed the Leeds management that he wasn't an international and vowed to arrive at the same time as the rest of the squad who were also uncapped.
Again, you get the feeling that this eagerness to get to work will ensure that Leeds have acquired a player who will leave his mark at Elland Road. In addition to that, Roca only cost the Whites in the region of £10 million, and when you consider how much potential the midfielder has after lighting up La Liga a few seasons ago, there is, all of a sudden, a case to be made for the Spaniard being the signing of the season in the Premier League.

Of course, it is now up to Marc Roca to produce the performances to back this prediction up. But with a fiercely determined attitude and the footballing ability to match, the midfielder could prove to be one of the best bargains in Premier League history.
