Messi does it again. The FIFA World Cup 2022 winner with Argentina wins the award for a record eighth time. He becomes the first player to win the Ballon d'Or as a player from outside Europe (Inter Miami CF).

Aitana Bonmati, the FC Barcelona feemni and Spain Women's team midfielder wins the Ballon d'Or Féminin 2023.

Bonmati won the UEFA Women's Champions League with FC Barcelona and then went on to win the FIFA Women's World Cup for Spain.
