Eden Hazard considering retirement from International football according to Spanish reporter Mario Cortegana.

Before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar kicked off Eden Hazard expressed his hope to rediscover his form ahead of the second stretch of the 2022/23 campaign.

The Belgian forward believed that this tournament could serve as a turning point to the difficult situation he's been going through at Real Madrid.

"Maybe after the World Cup things will be different," he told MARCA.

However, not everything went as planned, as Belgium's golden generation failed to qualify for the knockout stages and Eden Hazard was dealt a hard blow in the World Cup.

Belgium duty was Hazard's 'refuge' over the last years in which he has not enjoyed much playing time at Real Madrid due to injuries and drop in form.

However, not even his national team coach Roberto Martinez placed his confidence in Hazard, who came off the bench late in the game against Croatia.

After starting and tiptoeing through the first two games, he played only three minutes in a match where Belgium had to win.

He was Martinez's fifth substitute, coming off the bench in the 87th minute. His image at the end of the match said it all, as Hazard missed the chance he had been waiting for so long to vindicate himself.

"Madridistas, I've been here for three years with many injuries, with many things but next year I'm going to give everything for you," he said back in May, but six months later nothing has changed.

Despite not having suffered from injuries this season, he had fallen in Carlo Ancelotti's pecking order.

Hazard has participated in just six of the 21 games that Real Madrid have disputed thus far, playing 229 minutes and scoring one goal.

He has started twice and has not played a single minute in the last nine league games.

The winter transfer window is just around the corner and it remains to be seen what decision the Belgian forward will take.
