Cristiano Ronaldo failed to make an impact in their Champions League 2021-22 match against Atletico Madrid. Manchester United played to a 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid as Joao Felix took the early lead; But the Man Utd youngster Anthony Elanga found the relief goal for the Red Devils.

Atletico Madrid was the better team in the first half as the Spanish side successfully managed to take control of the situation. However, just 7 minutes into the game Joao Felix; beautifully converted the pass from Renan Lodi to give the Colchoneros the early lead.

However, there was not much impact from both sides as the match was progressing; until Vrsaljko's attempt just before the halftime mark as his header rattled off the bar.

Champions League 2021-22: The second half

The other half started similarly as the Colchoneros were again the dominant team. Yet both the teams failed to make an impact as they both kept playing the ball down the pitch. The action came back to life in the final 15 minutes of the match. Man Utd stepped up their game and started to attack more. Moreover, they got their much-awaited result after Bruno Fernandes found space for Anthony Elanga to get one-on-one against Jan Oblak. The youngster brilliantly slips it past Oblak to rescue a point for the Red Devils.

Yet Atletico Madrid didn't give up as they kept taking their chances including seeing a shot from Griezmann hit the post. Cristiano Ronaldo also made an effort at the final moments of the game which was parried away by Oblak. However, these 2 sides will again meet on 16th March at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese superstar failed to make an impact as Atletico Madrid brilliantly kept Ronaldo in check. The Spanish side was already aware of how dangerous Ronaldo can be; and they did a great job to keep him silent throughout the match.

Rangnick, on the other hand, will be worried about Ronaldo's form at the moment. The 37-year old has only managed one goal in his last nine appearances across all competitions for Manchester United this season.
