Cristiano Ronaldo News: Most Manchester United players believe the Portuguese should never play for club again

In Cristiano Ronaldo News, the majority of Manchester United players believe Cristiano Ronaldo should never play for the club again.

Ronaldo's incendiary interview with Piers Morgan on Talk TV, in which he said he has "no respect" for manager Erik ten Hag, has compelled the club to consider terminating his contract.

Dressing room sources have told the Manchester Evening News most of Ronaldo's teammates feel the Portuguese should now leave the club before the closure of the January transfer window.

A number of players prefer playing without Ronaldo, with Bruno Fernandes especially conscious of his dwindling impact since Ronaldo rejoined United in August 2021.

Fernandes and Ronaldo were filmed in an awkward exchange when Fernandes reported at the Portugal national team training camp in Qeiras, although United sources suggest Fernandes was weary after a delayed flight.

However, sources close to some senior players insist there has been 'friction' between Ronaldo and Fernandes for some time. Fernandes has scored all three of his goals this season when Ronaldo has not been on the pitch.

Ronaldo said in his interview with Morgan certain figures at United do not want him at the club and a minority of the squad scapegoated him for United's disastrous 2021-22 campaign.

Some players have felt cowed by Ronaldo's presence while there was annoyance that his negativity overshadowed another positive win at Fulham on Sunday.

United players only became aware of Ronaldo's interview after the game when they were flying back to Manchester from London. Some teammates have also taken a dim view of the timing of the interview as Ronaldo missed last week's wins over Aston Villa and Fulham through illness.

Ronaldo last trained with the United squad on Wednesday but trained with his Portugal teammates on Monday and Tuesday.

The first of Ronaldo's two-part interview with Morgan is scheduled to air on Wednesday night.

Liverpool 'would encourage' Darwin Nunez's exit if Saudi interest renews

According to reports, Liverpool would encourage Darwin Nunez to leave the club if Saudi Arabian clubs renew their interest in the Uruguayan striker.

Liverpool 'would encourage' Darwin Nunez's exit if Saudi interest renews-sportzpoint.com

Liverpool FC is reportedly on the verge of arranging Darwin Nunez's departure from Anfield this summer if the Saudi Arabian revives its interest in the striker.

The Uruguayan striker had moved to the Reds from Portuguese giants Benfica in a deal worth up to £85 million back in the summer transfer window of 2022.

With a struggling season continuing for him at the Merseyside club, Nunez is believed to be out of new coach Arne Slot's plans and will look to rejuvenate his career in the Gulf.

Nunez may leave Liverpool in the upcoming transfer window

Nunez's Liverpool career has been affected by difficulties, as he has found it hard to establish himself in the club throughout his early years.

In his three years at the Merseyside club, he has scored 40 goals in 136 games across all competitions, but this season has been the most disappointing so far for the 25-year-old, as he has scored just seven times across all competitions.

With the direction of new head coach Arne Slot, Nunez has found himself out of favor, another contributing factor to speculation about his future.

Renowned Football Transfer journalist Duncan Castles broke the news on the latest episode of 'The Transfers Podcast' that Liverpool would accept a big Saudi Arabian offer and would be willing to urge Nunez to leave if they come back for him. Castles stated:

Liverpool would be happy if the Saudis came in and would encourage a move for Nunez. They would like to get some kind of significant return on the initial €75 million that they paid Benfica three years ago.

“From the Saudi perspective, [Nunez] still has that ability to be a name within the Saudi game and to deliver goals with his physicality. Interestingly, I’m told that his girlfriend, Lorena Manas, who is the ex-wife of former Barcelona player Aleix Vidal, has been working with agents to explore opportunities elsewhere.

“So it looks like this is both sides pushing against the same door with Nunez, or at least Nunez’s partner, encouraging him to look for a move and Liverpool happy to sell the player with a strong, affluent potential buyer in Saudi Arabia.

Interestingly, it had been hinted that Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr had made a substantial annual deal of €35 million towards Nunez back in January, having already made an offer of £58 million for the forward.

According to reports, Nunez's girlfriend, Lorena Manas, has also been working closely with agents to look into possible transfers in mutual consent, implying a joint pressure for a potential move.

I think we had clear ideas on what we wanted to do and how we wanted to play. We tried that as much as possible. I know it is difficult when you play against a team that sits so low and is so compact.

At times the game takes you a different direction. You want to go on the ball and move around but generally, we stuck to the plan really well. We had a really good week of training, and it was a good way to start the new era.
