Dortmund vs Chelsea was an end-to-end match but Borussia Dortmund will take a lead to Stamford Bridge in the Champions League after beating Chelsea 1-0 on Wednesday.
Karim Adeyemi's strike just after an hour opened the scoring in Germany when the hosts broke from a Chelsea corner and the forward got the better of Enzo Fernandez before rounding Kepa Arrizabalaga.
While Dortmund enjoyed the majority of possession in the first half, Chelsea should have gone ahead twice when Joao Felix missed a great chance from the edge of the box, before the forward fired over from inside it.
Chelsea were wasteful tonight, there can be no arguing with that but there are plenty of positives for Graham Potter to take out of this one.
Much of their build-up play was excellent and the likes of Felix, Havertz and Ziyech all had moments of classy link up play. Defensively they were solid as well and conceded after a piece of, ironically, a piece of razor-sharp, clinical finishing.
They surely fancy their chances back at home in a couple of weeks' time.
