In Football news we have Manchester United winger Antony, who got dropped from the Brazil side following abuse allegations by his former girlfriend.

The Official from Brazil Federation : "In light of the facts which came to light on Monday concerning Manchester United player Antony, which must be investigated, and in order to safeguard the alleged victim, the player, the Brazilian national team and the CBF, the organization informs that the athlete has been removed from the Brazilian national team".

It was reported yesterday by the Brazilian media that Manchester United winger Antony as being investigated by the Sao Paulo court for domestic violence against his ex girlfriend Gavriela Cavallin.

In June, he claimed that he was falsely accused by his former girlfriend of domestic violence and he's continuing to do so in Football news. After the alleged claim, he issued an official statement, trying to prove his innocence to his fans, friends and family and felt obliged to do so, denying the claims made against him.

According to him, he handled the matter seriously and with utmost respect, and has already provided the due clarification to the police authority. Antony added, "The police inquest is under cover of justice, therefore I cannot make its content public".

He claimed that his relationship with Ms. Gabriela, his former girlfriend was "tumultuous", and agreed to exchange verbal offenses but denied all accusations of any kind of physical abuse.

He added, "Every time, whether in testimony or in interview, she presents a different version of the accusations. Thus, I come to deny the accusations made and inform that I remain at the full disposal of the Brazilian authorities to clarify what is needed in this case".

Antony looks to trust the ongoing police investigators and is almost certain that he's going to be proven innocent.

Manchester United said they had no comment on the matter at present when contacted by BBC Sport. The allegations came after the Premier League club announced the departure of Mason Greenwood, another player who was accused of criminal activities, to Getafe on a loan spell, six month after conducting an internal investigation on the player.

Antony has been replaced by Arsenal winger, Gabriel Martinelli in the Brazil squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Peru.
