For the first time in many years, Aston Villa will be playing in Europe so it is necessary for them to make marquee signings.

With Emi Buendia suffering a serious knee injury in training last week, Unai Emery was keen to get a replacement for him as he's set to miss a large part of the season.

Zaniolo was identified quickly as a target with him being linked to Aston Villa's transfer chief Monchi as per multiple reports in football transfer news, who knew him well after signing him from Roma in 2018.

Zaniolo made his debut in the 2018/19 season for the Serie A team, As Roma and was also named Serie A Young Player of the year in that particular season only.

He also won the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2022 with Roma before agreeing to a move to Galatasaray, where he won the league last season.
