The Greek international, Konstantinos Mavropanos has officially become a West Ham player, ending his four-year long spell away from the top flight of English football. He's said to be the perfect centre back replacement as the Harry Maguire deal collapse in the final hours.

Mavropanos joined David Moyes' West Ham in a deal worth €20m plus €5m in add-ons to Stuttgart, giving the club additional trusted depth in the heart of the back four at London Stadium according to Fabrizio Romano. It's a done deal now and nothing can bring it to a halt.

The 25-year-old spent his early footballing days in the streets of London only four years but across the capital with Arsenal, two of which involved loan spells with 1.FC Nürnberg and VfB Stuttgart before ultimately moving from the Emirates permanently last summer, where he featured prominently for Die Schwaben while helping them avoid relegation to 2.Bundesliga by scoring a goal in their relegation playoff tie with Hamburger SV.

At the time of the business end of the transfer window with a little over a week left, West Ham has finally begun make their moves in the market after the protracted saga that saw club captain Declan Rice move to Arsenal who helped the club to a Europa Conference League win and also helped with the financial situation of the club.

With the money that West Ham got for Rice they bought reinforcements to the side in the name of Edson Álvarez and James Ward-Prowse, both of whom featured in their 3-1 win over Chelsea on Sunday, with the ex-Southampton captain bagging a brace of assists on his full debut.

Mavropanos becomes the fifth center-back in the senior side as things stand, but with Angelo Obgonna aging (35), and German international Thilo Kehrer proving inconsistent, investment in that area of the park was deemed suitable. It comes at the right time as well, after Moroccan international Nayef Aguerd was sent off after being booked twice against the Blues, which should see Mavropanos make his debut at the weekend against Brighton.
