Manchester United have been beaten to Kim Min-jae transfer by Bayern Munich as Bundesliga champions agree personal terms with Napoli defender ahead of triggering the release clause of €50m deal.

The korean centre-half starred in Serie A. He has seen his stock soar over the course of the last 12 months, with a move to Italy made during the summer of 2022. He became a Serie A title winner last season and also graced the World Cup finals in Qatar 2022.

Premier League giants Manchester United did appear to be leading the racefor Kim's signature at one stage, as they mulled over a big-money move, but the 26-year-old now appears destined to head for Germany according to multiple reports by Fabrizio Romano.

Bayern are said to have a five-year contract in place for Kim at the Allianz Arena, with those terms set to take him through to 2028. All that is required now is for the German title holders to trigger the release clause that exists in Kim's contract.

Kim is available for €50 million this summer during a window that opens on July 1 and ends on July 15, with Bayern ensuring that they have everything in place before that clause becomes active. United, meanwhile, will need to turn their attention elsewhere if they want to acquire another centre-half.

Torres emerged as one of Unai Emery's top targets early in the summer transfer nwindow. The move will see the left-footed centre-back reunited with Emery, the pair having worked together at Villarreal.

Villa have already agreed a deal to sign Youri Tielemans on a free transfer following his exit from Leicester City. They are also interested in a move for Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams.

Torres was a key player for Villarreal last season, making 39 appearances as the club finished fifth in La Liga to secure Europa League football next season.

He has 23 caps for Spain and was part of the squad at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Torres is set to join Tyrone Mings, Ezri Konsa, Diego Carlos and Calum Chambers as Villa's senior centre-back options according to Fabrizio Romano. If he completes a move to the West Midlands, Torres will be Villa's first signing since they appointed Spaniard Monchi as their sporting director earlier this month.

The Ligue 1 champions will pay a transfer fee of around €50m to sign the player from the Bundesliga giants, according to Fabrizio Romano. The player has already arrived in Paris and is likely to sign his new contract at the club this week.

With the French international defender set to move out of the club, Bayern Munich will replace him with South Korean defender Kim Min-jae who is set to join the club from Napoli for €50 million.

The 27-year-old defender had a difficult outing for club and country during the 2022-23 season. His season was ended prematurely during the 2022 World Cup when he tore his ACL during France's opening match of the tournament against Australia. He appeared in just 11 matches for Bayern Munich in all competitions, scoring once and provided as many assists.
