West Ham Utd agree principle for Lyon's star Lucas Paqueta
West Ham have agreed a deal to sign Lyon midfielder Lucas Paqueta.
French club Lyon had rejected two offers for the Brazilian midfielder but talks continued through Thursday night and had reached an advanced stage by Friday morning.
Paqueta, who played in the Europa League last season against West Ham, had three years left on his Lyon contract.
South American football expert Tim Vickery:
"He's really an attacking midfielder but he can also play up front. You can play him as a withdrawn winger, and deeper in midfield - although there is a problem there as sometimes he can give the ball away too close to his own goal because he's showboating.
Football Transfer News: Manchester United offered a chance to sign Marco Asensio
Manchester United have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Marcos Asensio from Real Madrid this transfer window.
According to The Telegraph, Asensio is looking to leave Madrid this summer and is believed to be available for €30million (£25.3million). The report claims that United were offered the player before they signed Casemiro from the La Liga side, although the club have not ruled out making a bid for another player from the Spanish side.
It is thought that Madrid are eager to find the attacking midfielder a new club this summer, as the player is in the final year of his contract. Asensio's club are believed to be desperate to avoid the player leaving on a free next summer, as they work with super-agent Jorge Mendes, the player's representative, to find the Spaniard a new side.
Elsewhere, Mail Online report that Anthony Elanga could be sent out on loan if United finalise a deal for Antony from Ajax this summer.
They claim that Everton are keen on taking the youngster on loan this season and the incoming deal for the Brazilian winger could see Elanga leave to get more minutes. It is thought that the Merseyside club are also interested in signing James Garner this summer after Erik ten Hag made the decision to allow the player to leave.
