France are one of the most decorated national teams around and have produced some of the greatest footballers in history. Becoming France's all-time highest goalscorer is no easy task but Olivier Giroud has done it.
Zinedine Zidane in his prime was just pure art. Michel Platini was very much a player in the same mould. Just Fontaine is an absolute World Cup legend.
And then there were clinical attackers such as Jean-Pierre Papin, David Trezeguet and Thierry Henry.
Olivier Giroud has broken the France goalscoring record with that crisp little finish, his 52nd goal in national colours and making up for arguably an easier chance earlier. France have the lead but they have not been convincing.
Also scores another crucial goal and game winner against England to give France a booked place in the Semi finals of the 2022 World Cup.
Olivier Giroud has become a France legend as he leapfrogs Thierry Henry.
Lianne Sanderson live on talkSPORT: "Giroud's a fantastic player, he's underrated. He always scores⦠his one-touch play is really good.
"The top, top players pick their moments and he's got his goal when given the chance even though he didn't strike it very truly."
The veteran frontman pulled level with 1998 world champion Henry when bagging a brace against Australia in the group stage of 2022 World Cup, but is now clear at the top of a notable chart after finding the target in a last-16 showdown with Poland. Giroud's big moment arrived on the stroke of half-time, with the 36-year-old beating the offside trap to sweep home a smart left-footed finish.
