Talented La Liga midfielder, Gabri Veiga has accepted a move to Al Ahli in the Saudi Pro League after the deal with Serie A Champions collapsed in the last 48 hours. It was somewhat close to a done deal so this transfer news might come as a surprise to many people.

According to to Fabrizio Romano, Celta Vigo have no problem selling the player to Saudi Arabia as they've given the green light by accepting the offer, presumably a monster contract offer.

The Saudi clubs have adapted a new strategy of strengthen their squads by appointing young players who have a lot of potential and alongside them, the world class players, who've done it all and are now coming at the end of their careers.

Veiga was one of the top targets of many Premier League clubs like Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City but the interest went cold after a series of negotiations between both the parties.

Fabrizio Romano on Caught Offside

"Liverpool decided to go for different kind of midfielders, Chelsea did the same with Romeo Lavia. So it's about skills, they all rated Veiga as top talent but did not bid due to different vision. Manchester City considered him after Rice saga but then decided to invest big money on different kind of players."

The midfielder's camp did accept an offer from Napoli, who rated the midfielder pretty highly, but unfortunately things didn't fall into place and the transfer did not happen.

Veiga is a supremely talented midfielder and certainly if the Al Ahli deal didn't happen this summer, they he would have probably stayed with Celta Vigo. Given that the last season was his first season as a starter so it would've been a learning curve for him and could also experience great growth.
