Mohun Bagan Super Giant defeated FC Goa in the Durand Cup 2023 semifinal by 2-1 in Kolkata as they are all set to meet Emami East Bengal in the final on Sunday. Noah Sadaoui's goal gave the lead to FC Goa but Jason Cummings and Armando Sadiku's goal helped the Mariners win the semis. There will be a derby in the Durand Cup 2023 Final. In the post-match press conference, FC Goa head coach Manolo Márquez criticized the refereeing decisions by saying, "We are used to this kind of thing in India"
Is FC Goa a victim of the Referee?
"No, If you play in India, we are used to this kind of things. I think they won the match with the penalty in the other box and not the penalty that they deserved. Everyone could see the other day and again today. I think that we are more or less we are used, to managing this kind of situation. I think that this is the normal thing when you are a big team," FC Goa head coach Manolo Márquez answered
"But OK, I have to tell you on the other side that they have a very good team. And on the other side, we are very happy with the performance of the team. I think that we played better than them. And maybe if we drew the match, the result would be different. Unfortunately was not the case here," he further added.
Why Manolo Márquez didn't allow Brandon to play in the second half of the Durand Cup Semi-Final
Yes, we arrived when it was three or four days ago in Kolkata. There were so many players and staff. They were tired. Brandon was one of them. He was very weak and we spoke before the game that he would play, play only, the first half.
