India vs Syria Intercontinental Cup 2024 Highlights: Syria win the Intercontinental Cup with an easy 3-0 win over India

The Buildup

India played a goalless draw against Mauritius and now MUST win their against an opponent to whom they had a hreatbreaking defeated in AFC Asian Cup qualification in January earlier this year. New head coach Manolo Marquez despite the draw saw some positives in Blue Tigers' perfomance and is looking to play "Good Football".

The Indian football team have their eyes locked at the Asian Cup qualifiers in 2025 and wins in this friendlies will help them have a better draw, which will be held in December this year.

Meantime, Syria are coming from a dominating 2-0 win over Mauritius which saw them climb up to the top of the table in Intercontinental Cup 2024. This means, a draw for them will take them to their first-ever glory on Indian soil.

Syria win the Intercontinental Cup for the first time. This is their first triump on Indian soil after losing the Nehru Cup final twice in 2007 and 2009.
 
A win by 3-0 means it is the biggest margin of win in the history of India vs Syria matchups. 
 
Syria were way better team with better possesion, speed and calmness on the field. Asish Rai did his best in the second half and probably was India's best player.
 
Edmund, Chhangte, Asish and Mahesh had their chances but could not get past the goalline. Liston took his chance with a long range shot late in the game, but hit the crossbar as well.
 
In the end, it was an easy, comfortable win for Syria. Emiliano Amor was adjudged the player of the match.
