Indian football: On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared the construction of an outdoor synthetic track and an Astro-Turf football stadium in Ladakh.
PM Modi remarked during his 'Mann Ki Baat' address to the nation, "Friends, today I want to share with you one such information about Ladakh which you will definitely be proud to know about. Ladakh will soon be blessed with an impressive Open Synthetic Track and Astro-Turf Football Stadium. This stadium is being built at a height of more than 10,000 feet. Its construction is going to be completed soon. This will be the largest open stadium in Ladakh where 30,000 spectators can sit together. This modern football stadium in Ladakh will also have a synthetic track with 8 lanes. Apart from this, there will also be a hostel facility with one thousand beds. You will also like to know that this stadium has also been certified by FIFA, the biggest organization of football."

PM Modi went on to say that such development would open up a plethora of prospects in Indian football, tourism and jobs.
"Whenever such a big sports infrastructure comes up, it brings great opportunities to the youth of the country. Along with such an arrangement, the movement of people from all over the country takes place. Tourism gets promoted and many employment opportunities are created. The stadium will also benefit many of our youth in Ladakh," He added shortly.

Furthermore, Anurag Thakur, the Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports praised the Prime Minister's initiative. He expressed his regards via Twitter. The AIFF, on its part, praised the Prime Minister. "The new football stadium in Ladakh can play a vital role in helping the development of local talent which in turn will benefit Indian Football," AIFF Deputy General Secretary Abhishek Yadav stated.
"The AIFF remains grateful to the honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for all the support," he added.
The stadium contains a height of more than 10,000 feet. With a capacity of 30,000 people, this will be Ladakh's largest open stadium.
