Inter Milan won their second Derby della Madonnina in a row on Sunday, taking home an important Serie A clash, 1-0.

The Nerazzurri are still thirteen points behind Napoli while the Rossoneri lost their third consecutive Serie A game and are now fifth in the table, five points behind Inzaghi’s team.

AC Milan changed their way of playing after losing two matches in a row and conceding nine goals as Stefano Pioli’s team started with a 3-5-2 and with key player Rafael Leao surprisingly on the bench.

However, Inter Milan had a much better first half and dominated the Derby della Madonnina during the opening 45 minutes.

Argentinian striker and new club captain Lautaro Martinez scored the opening goal of the night in Milan thanks to a header that came from a nice corner kick from the former AC Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu.

The second half started with only one change made by AC Milan, but after ten minutes into the second half Pioli finally decided to insert Leao.

Despite a quite neutral approach to the game, the Rossoneri had their first chances only when the Portuguese player started to be involved.

The match heated up a bit in the final part of the game when Romelu Lukaku saw a goal disallowed, but after that nothing really big happened and Inter Milan to beat their rivals once again.

That was a shocking performance from Milan. Not shocking in the typical over the top analysis sense, but literally surprisingly bad. This was a big derby match that could have seen Milan move ahead of their eternal rivals with a win, but they played with all the intensity of a mid-season money-spinning friendly.

Milan are missing key players through injury, but a majority of their title-winning side from a year ago remain intact.

Stefano Pioli faces a truly difficult task in getting his disjointed champions back on track.
