It was widely reported on Wednesday that the World Cup winner will leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season. Many fans expected Barcelona to be the destination where the Argentine will end up. According to the BBC this week, the return of Lionel Messi to Barcelona looks less likely due to the Catalan Clubโs financial issues. On the other side, La Liga president Javier Tebas has given the club hope of bringing the 35-year-old back to the Camp Nou.

La Liga President revealed that there is hope but it will be hard for Barcelona to sign Messi this Summer:
โHis return is now conditional on selling players.โ He thinks Barca will get a good amount from selling players this summer. Barcelona have a lot of assets that they could sell to make Messiโs return possible. Players such as Ansu Fati, Ferran Torres and maybe even Raphinha could all bring in large fees to ease the financial problems at the La Liga giants. The return of Barcelonaโs greatest-ever player will be a dream for the Catalan Clubโs fans and it is now in the hands of the club to get it done.
The question is who will sacrifice himself in the transfer market. Raphinha is young and that was just his first season. He has decent numbers to show but he hasnโt been consistent. It takes time to fit into a system like Xavi. On the other side, Ansu Fati has spent more time on the sidelines than on the field. His injury has cost Barcelona big time. Ferran was a treat to watch at Manchester City but he has not delivered in his 2 full seasons for Barcelona. It will be very exciting to see what happens this summer.
