Atletico Madrid reached the top of the La Liga table after beating the 10-men Getafe 2-1. The reason behind this victory is none other than Luis Suarez who scored both the goals in the 78th and 90th minutes. The host Getafe played with 10 men from the 74th minute after their midfielder Carles Alena got a red card. Getafe was leading but the game changed after the 74th minute.

Atletico coach Diego Simeone said, “In the first half, we had a lack of movement, of dynamism, and the match was flat until the opponents’ goal. In the second period, the match had more rhythm, more intensity, we had more efficiency in attack.”

Suarez scored his 1st goal of this season in the 78th minute and boosted his club after two 0-0 draws. Suarez said, “A comeback win like this, with the team trailing late, will help boost the team’s morale. We know we have to fix a few things. We have to keep improving.”

Suarez made just his 3rd league start in 6 games this term scored 3 La Liga goals already this season. Since 2011 this was Atletico Madrid’s consecutive 20th victory against Geta and this win took Atletico back to the top with 14 points.
