Manchester United are set to have a new look squad next season under Erik ten Hag with a major clearout expected this summer.
The Red Devils officially announced that the Dutchman will be their new manager at the end of the season as he leaves Ajax signing a three-year deal, with an option of a fourth, at Old Trafford. Ten Hag insists he is "honoured" to be named United's new boss, saying: "It is a great honour to be appointed manager of Manchester United and I am hugely excited by the challenge ahead.
"I know the history of this great club and the passion of the fans, and I am absolutely determined to develop a team capable of delivering the success they deserve. It will be difficult to leave Ajax after these incredible years, and I can assure our fans of my complete commitment and focus on bringing this season to a successful conclusion before I move to Manchester United."
There will be several players heading out the exit door in the upcoming transfer window as Mirror Football can exclusively reveal there will be a major exodus at United with up to as many as 12 players leaving Old Trafford.
Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard, Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata and Lee Grant are all set to leave as free agents while at least six other players including Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Alex Telles, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford – could join them to allow Ten Hag to begin his overhaul with Ralf Rangnick suggesting there will be as many as ten new arrivals.
