Most valuable XI in the Premier League in 2023-24

Chelsea might have spent a mindblowing amount of money in recent years in the Premier League, but it's Manchester City and Arsenal that dominate the list of English football's most valuable players.

Based off their Transfermarkt valuations, we've compiled the most valuable XI in the Premier League right now.

GK: Aaron Ramsdale – €40million

The proud owner of Arsenal's No.1 shirt, Ramsdale suddenly has competition for his spot between the sticks following the arrival of David Raya from Brentford.

But the 25-year-old nevertheless remains a big part of Arsenal's future, having signed a new long-term contract that runs until 2026 earlier this year.

The outstanding candidate to challenge Jordan Pickford as Gareth Southgate's first-choice England 'keeper going forward is valued at €40million by Transfermarkt. That actually puts him level with Manchester City's Ederson in terms of their valuations, and marginally ahead of Alisson and Andre Onana.

RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold – €65million

Level with Reece James, we've opted for Alexander-Arnold due to his superior fitness record.

Liverpool's homegrown right-back has played a key role in the club sweeping home every major trophy going in recent years. He's still only 24 but is now into the final two years of his current deal.

You imagine it would take considerably more than €65million to prise the England international away from Jurgen Klopp's squad. You also imagine that negotiating a contract extension will be near the top of the agenda for Liverpool's higher-ups.

CB: Ruben Dias – €80million

Arguably the best centre-back in world football right now, Dias has lifted the Premier League trophy in each of his three seasons at the Etihad. He was named the Premier League's Player of the Season in his debut season and played a starring role in their treble triumph last term.

Dias is still just 26 and remains tied down at City until 2027. No wonder he's the Premier League's most valuable defender.

CB: Josko Gvardiol – €75million

One of two new signings – and the only one new to the Premier League – in this XI, it remains to be seen whether Gvardiol will live up to his £77.6million price tag. But the early signs are very promising indeed.

The partnership of Gvardiol and Dias could well mean that Pep Guardiola's juggernaut prove unstoppable for a few more years yet.

LB: Luke Shaw – €42million

Tied with Manchester City's Oleksandr Zinchenko, we've gone with Shaw partly due to the England international factor and partly due to his importance to Manchester United.

The left-back has seen competition come and go during his time at Old Trafford but he's always kept his place in United's best available XI.

DM: Declan Rice – €90million

Moises Caicedo might have just moved for a British transfer record of £115million but Rice – who cost Arsenal about £10million less – is viewed as the league's most valuable defensive midfielder alongside Manchester City stalwart Rodri.

We reckon that Rodri is probably the standout player in his position in world football right now and Rice would do seriously well if he's to ever reach that level for Mikel Arteta's Gunners.

But if we're judging purely on value, Rice makes our XI – younger, English, a new signing, contracted until 2028. We can't envisage a world in which he's not a mainstay of Arsenal's midfield for many more years to come.

CM: Martin Odegaard – €90million

Odegaard is tied with Rodri and Rice as one of the Premier League's most valuable midfielders.

No quibbles here. The Arsenal captain has established himself as one of the best players in the country.

Not bad for a signing that only cost approximately £30million – you imagine it'd take at least treble that for the Norwegian playmaker to ever move elsewhere.

CM: Bernardo Silva – €80million

"It will be my dream, like Kyle Walker. Hopefully it happens. From the deep of my heart, from the bottom of my heart, I wish ," responded Pep Guardiola when asked about the possibility of Silva extending his contract with Manchester City.

The Portuguese schemer has been one of City's standout players during the most successful period in the club's history. While he's been an ever-present in the transfer gossip columns in recent years, the latest reports suggest that their lucrative asset is on the cusp of signing on the dotted line.

RW: Bukayo Saka – €120million

It would cost an unthinkable sum of money to take Saka away from his boyhood club. And rightly so.

ST: Erling Haaland – €180million

No surprises here, is there? The Premier League's MVP is level with Kylian Mbappe in terms of their transfer valuations.

Thirty-six Premier League goals in your debut season will do that.

LW: Phil Foden – €110million

The 23-year-old struggled to get into Pep Guardiola's favoured XI during the treble-chasing run-in last term and was left out of the starting line-up for both the FA Cup and Champions League finals.

Yet he remains a huge part of their future. And with Riyad Mahrez gone and Kevin De Bruyne facing a long spell out on the sidelines, Foden now has an opportunity to nail down his place once and for all.

He certainly looked a €100million+ player with a man-of-the-match display in City's 1-0 victory over Newcastle at the weekend.
