Final Verdict
A night of pure drama at the Metropolitano ended with Real Madrid emerging victorious from the penalty shootout after Atletico Madridโs early blitz set the stage for an unforgettable battle.
Conor Gallagher shocked the visitors with a goal just 30 seconds in, catching Real cold and sending the home crowd into a frenzy. Atletico pressed high and dominated the first half, suffocating Ancelottiโs side and refusing to let them settle.
Real grew into the game after the break, with Vinicius Jr and Bellingham pushing forward, but Jan Oblak stood tall, denying several key chances. Atletico, too, had their moments to seal it, Griezmannโs curling effort came agonizingly close, but neither could put the tie to bed.
Extra time was a war of attrition, both sides running on fumes. Real nearly snatched it late, with Rodrygo striking the post, but penalties became inevitable.
In the shootout, nerves ran high. Real Madridโs resilience shone through โ Rรผdiger, Mbappรฉ, Valverde, and Bellingham converted with ice in their veins. Atletico faltered, with รlvarez and Llorente missing their crucial spot-kicks, while Lucas Vรกzquez uncharacteristically blasted his over for Real.
In the end, it was another classic European night for Los Blancos โ battered, bruised, but never beaten. Atletico, brave and brilliant for large spells, are left heartbroken, knowing they were inches from glory.
Real Madrid march on, proving once again why they are the kings of Europe.

What a blistering start at the Metropolitano! Conor Gallagher, the surprise inclusion in Diego Simeone's XI, wasted no time making his mark โ smashing the opener past Courtois just 30 seconds in. Atletico came out like a team possessed, fueled by the electric home crowd, and Gallagherโs early strike set the tone.
Real Madrid, stunned by the rapid goal, struggled to find their rhythm. Vinicius Jr and Bellingham had flashes of brilliance but were largely kept quiet by Atleticoโs well-organized, tenacious defense. Simeoneโs side has been relentless off the ball, pressing high and forcing mistakes in midfield.
Carlo Ancelotti will demand more urgency from his men after the break. With their UCL hopes hanging in the balance, Los Blancos need a spark โ and fast โ to avoid crashing out.
Itโs all set up for a blockbuster second half. Can Real Madrid fight back?

Team News
Liverpool
Liverpool custodian Alisson Becker became the point of difference between Liverpool's victory and PSG, who made a remarkable nine saves at the Parc des Princes, except for a disallowed offside goal from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Liverpool were cornered during the whole game in every sector of the play, but they somehow came out of Paris with a victory, courtesy of a late strike from Harvey Elliot who found the net only after 47 seconds of coming onto the pitch.
Alisson made nine saves in the first leg.
The Reds have also kept their winning streak intact, posting a statement 3-1 triumph over Southampton last weekend. The current Premier League toppers will look to seal the passage to the quarters after crashing out of the RO16 last season.
Manager Arne Slot will have to select the team roster without Connor Bradley, Joe Gomez, and Tyler Morton, who are all recovering from long-term injuries. Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai might be the other absentees as they are doubtful.
Liverpool could face greater trouble even if they advance to the next round, as Elliott, Konatรฉ, Mac Allister, Robertson, and Van Dijk will all be suspended for the upcoming UCL match if they receive a yellow card in this game.
Paris Saint-Germain
Despite the shock of Les Parisiens' defeat in the first leg, especially considering the number of chances they created, it was merely another chapter in PSG's ongoing struggles in the Champions League.
PSG registered a total of zero goals from 27 shots, ending a frustrating night in defeat, as they will be desperate enough at Anfield to turn things around, in search of their much-eluded continental crown.
The Parisiens triumphed 4-1 against Rennes in the Ligue 1 last weekend, handing themselves a confidence boost ahead of the travel to Merseyside.
However, coach Luis Enrique will have the full squad at his disposal for selection. Only Marquinhos and Fabiรกn Ruiz are at risk of getting suspended in the next game if they manage to progress further in this season's competition.
