Paulo Dybala: How good is the signing for Jose Mourinho and AS Roma?

Paulo Dybala who spent countless successful years at Juventus, left the former Serie A Champions for free this summer and to everyone's surprise, has decided to join Jose Mourinho's Roma.

Juventus have long been known for their shrewd businesses when it comes to free transfers. From Andrea Pirlo to Paul Pogba(that has already happened twice) and most recently Angel Di Maria. So when The Old Lady decide to let go of one of their own on a free transfer, it's sure to raise some eyebrows.

The Argentine attacker decided to join the UEFA Europa Conference League Champions after Roma manager Jose Mourinho convinced him that he would be their main man alongside Tammy Abraham. The 28-year-old has played 210 league games for the Bianconeri and has got an impressive goal tally of 82 goals, supplemented by 37 assists.

With keeping all that in mind, Dybala is no doubt one of the finest players in world football out there, let alone one of the free agents. But will he be able to adapt to Mourinho's old-school system and tactics? Sportz Point breakdown his transfer analysis and grade how well he fits into Roma's system.

Playing Style and Analysis:

Dybala most impresses with his close control on the ball and the twinkly, quick movements he makes under pressure. He is capable of getting out of trouble or combining through congested areas of the pitch, by dribbling past the pressure he is under without risking conceding possession.

His judgement of when to release the ball through the opposition defence and how to do so complements that. He can therefore be very effective between the lines as he can dominate in the spaces around the central lanes – his vision, creativity and execution with his left foot.

He is also a very good finisher of the ball, when even if he continues to favour his left foot there is a variety to his finishing. So many of his efforts have come after he has dribbled away from pressure, or beyond defenders, when his agility and pace contribute as much to him beating defenders as it does the manner of finish he attempts.

It is also significant, however, that many of those shots on goal have been intercepted making him a more effective goalscorer when he receives a return pass or after dribbling past defenders who might otherwise have blocked his initial shot.

His versatility make him a valuable asset for any team he plays for and Jose Mourinho would be very happy to make him part of his plans for the 2022/23 season.

Paulo Dybala Stats:

The attacking and creativity stats for Paulo Dybala in the UEFA Champions League are exceptional. Dybala has attempted a total of 13.71 attacking actions and has a very high success rate with those attacking actions as he has completed 60.58% of them.

He has had 44.873% of his total shots on target, with 3.2 shots per 90. Dybala is a player who is always a huge threat in the opposition penalty area with great decision-making when he gets the ball in the penalty box.

He has also put in several crosses in the penalty area, which have generated a high xT. Dybala has also generated a high xT throughout the game and has shown his presence in the final third.

Paulo Dybala, Potential Fit and Expectations:

Paulo Dybala is an excellent forward who could be a stunning addition to this current Roma side that plays under Jose Mourinho. However, his quality warrants him to play in a much bigger setup and team, there might not be a better manager right now than Mourinho to get the best out of him.

If Mourinho sticks to his current tactics, Dybala could play the Lampard role from his time at Chelsea arriving late in the box, but his versatility will help him slot in all the attacking positions that Mourinho sets up for his team. Either way, Dybala will be an important player for Roma next season as his quality and pedigree show he can influence any game at the highest level.

Every free transfer always proves to be value for money – because let's face it, the player hasn't cost the club a single penny. Similarly, with Paulo Dybala's move to Roma being a free transfer, irrespective the player being a hit or miss, Jose Mourinho wouldn't mind the occasional dip in form from the Argentine attacker.

Manchester United are reportedly preparing for a massive summer signing as they eye the services of star Olympique Lyonnais forward Rayan Cherki.

The Red Devils are interested in strengthening their squad, and they have now joined the race to sign the gifted French under-21 forward, after it was reported that Lyon is willing to sell the player for approximately £20 million.

In a difficult ongoing campaign this season, Manchester United have registered a record low point total in the Premier League, sitting on 38 points.

With only 6 games remaining to play for, the call for new talent has never been greater inside the club. Cherki, widely considered one of the most talented players in the world at this moment, has been identified as a top target for the club's Portuguese manager, Ruben Amorim.

The various reports point out Cherki's great talent and his undeniable potential to shape games at the highest level. He has performed marvelously on the field in this season alone, achieving great statistics that would upgrade any team.

Cherki's display has attracted United's scouting department, particularly with the Red Devils' own challenges in creativity and attacking potency.

At only the age of 21, Rayan Cherki has already become a familiar name in French and world football, and this season was his coming-out party.

His record of 13 goals from 23 appearances for France's U-21 team says volumes about his talent. Although Manchester United is still keen on signing him, the negotiating table will have to wait until the next summer transfer window, especially after facing Lyon in the Europa League.

By the way, Cherki's last-minute equalizer in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League quarter-final matchup saved Lyon a 2-2 draw at home against United last week.

With Cherki catching headlines in Ligue 1, only time will tell how Lyon will deal with a possible transfer. United's desire is obvious, and if properly negotiated, Cherki's signing at Old Trafford may commence a new era for the club's attacking prowess.

Liverpool 'would encourage' Darwin Nunez's exit if Saudi interest renews

According to reports, Liverpool would encourage Darwin Nunez to leave the club if Saudi Arabian clubs renew their interest in the Uruguayan striker.

Liverpool 'would encourage' Darwin Nunez's exit if Saudi interest renews-sportzpoint.com

Liverpool FC is reportedly on the verge of arranging Darwin Nunez's departure from Anfield this summer if the Saudi Arabian revives its interest in the striker.

The Uruguayan striker had moved to the Reds from Portuguese giants Benfica in a deal worth up to £85 million back in the summer transfer window of 2022.

With a struggling season continuing for him at the Merseyside club, Nunez is believed to be out of new coach Arne Slot's plans and will look to rejuvenate his career in the Gulf.

Nunez's Liverpool career has been affected by difficulties, as he has found it hard to establish himself in the club throughout his early years.

In his three years at the Merseyside club, he has scored 40 goals in 136 games across all competitions, but this season has been the most disappointing so far for the 25-year-old, as he has scored just seven times across all competitions.

With the direction of new head coach Arne Slot, Nunez has found himself out of favor, another contributing factor to speculation about his future.

Renowned Football Transfer journalist Duncan Castles broke the news on the latest episode of 'The Transfers Podcast' that Liverpool would accept a big Saudi Arabian offer and would be willing to urge Nunez to leave if they come back for him. Castles stated:

Liverpool would be happy if the Saudis came in and would encourage a move for Nunez. They would like to get some kind of significant return on the initial €75 million that they paid Benfica three years ago.

“From the Saudi perspective, [Nunez] still has that ability to be a name within the Saudi game and to deliver goals with his physicality. Interestingly, I’m told that his girlfriend, Lorena Manas, who is the ex-wife of former Barcelona player Aleix Vidal, has been working with agents to explore opportunities elsewhere.

“So it looks like this is both sides pushing against the same door with Nunez, or at least Nunez’s partner, encouraging him to look for a move and Liverpool happy to sell the player with a strong, affluent potential buyer in Saudi Arabia.

Interestingly, it had been hinted that Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr had made a substantial annual deal of €35 million towards Nunez back in January, having already made an offer of £58 million for the forward.

According to reports, Nunez's girlfriend, Lorena Manas, has also been working closely with agents to look into possible transfers in mutual consent, implying a joint pressure for a potential move.
