FIFA Women's World Cup 2023: Portugal (0) vs USA (0) | Full-time

We have to admit that Portugal were unlucky. They were the better team despite the stats. The USA didn't threaten the Portuguese backline as they did. Ana Capeta almost won it for Portugal but it was not meant to be. The USA survived the humiliation and booked their tickets for the last 16 behind the Netherlands.

"It's tough to finish second. We gave everything; we just didn't put the ball in the back of the net. In the last few minutes, we just had to hold it down, get the result and move on. It's not the result we wanted, but we move forward."

Alex Morgan

"We had so many corners, so many opportunities, we got the crosses in. We've been unlucky, at times we haven't followed through with shots or made the right decisions in front of the goal – all that combined."

Alex Morgan concluded
