In Premier League News, Raheem Sterling will hope that his brutal rejection of a move to Arsenal doesn't come back to bite him as Chelsea welcome the Gunners to Stamford Bridge.
The two sides come together on Sunday afternoon in a game that could have big consequences at the top of the table. Arsenal could build their advantage to five points ahead of Manchester City with victory, whilst Chelsea could cut the gap to the current top-four contenders should they win.
Having scored five goals in 17 appearances since his summer switch from Man City in the summer, England star Sterling will no doubt be aiming to better that record against the Gunners. He actually has a very decent career record against the North Londoners having struck eight career goals in previous showdowns.
Despite that, Sterling could actually have been donning red this weekend. The 27-year-old was regularly linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium before finally sealing his Etihad exit.
Even as recently as the summer, the Gunners were touted as a potential destination. Mikel Arteta 's relationship with Sterling was thought to be a potential boost with the pair having been colleagues in Manchester. The winger has never attempted to hide his admiration of the Spaniard since.
Speaking in October 2020, he said: "
"So I knew once he went into Arsenal that it would be a great opportunity for him but also he would definitely implement what he wanted to bring in.
"And he's a person that will put his foot down and not let things slide as you can see with the boys at Arsenal. They know if they don't run they are most likely not going to play."
"You can see the change that he's brought in there, you can see the energy, you can see how much he's put into them with their off-ball work," Sterling continued.
