Liverpool and Manchester City keep locking horns as both the teams win 2-0 against Watford and Burnley respectively.
Liverpool increased the pressure on City with a 2-0 win over Watford at an early start on Saturday but it took City just five minutes to break ground at Turf Moor, where Kevin De Bruyne opened the scoring. Ilkay Gundogan's shot made it 2-0 in the 25th minute, and with this, City ensured that they finished the day they started the game, top of the league.
Guardiola's champion faces a crucial showdown of the season with Jurgen Klopp's rivals next week at the Etihad but the City boss said before the trip to Burnley that his only focus was on Saturday's game.
City manager Pep Guardiola said: "The next game in the Premier League we will play against Liverpool so we know they are going to win almost all the games – hopefully not the next game – but we will try to do the same. It's Atletico Madrid. Next, then Liverpool."
Starting the day one point behind champion Pep Guardiola who has played 29 matches each, Liverpool took the lead over Watford by Diogo Jota in 22 minutes before Fabinho raised 2-0 later from the penalty spot.
A visit to Watford, 18th in the table, heralded the start of a monumental month for Liverpool. In addition to facing City in the league at the Etihad next week, they have the FA Cup quarter-finals against them, the visit of the bitter rival Manchester United and the two-match clash of the Champions League quarter-finals with Benfica.
