Delhi Football President and longtime sports administrator Shaji Prabhakaran was on Saturday elected as the new General Secretary of the All India Football Federation (AIFF). The newly formed executive committee of AIFF made this decision.
Earlier, Kalyan Choubey defeated Bhaichung Bhutia in the election for the post of AIFF President by 33-1. The new Executive Committee chaired by Choubey made this decision in the first meeting of the committee. After that, Choubey recommended the name of Shaji Prabhakaran for the post of General Secretary. All the members unanimously accepted the decision.

"Dr. Shaji's previous experience as FIFA Regional Development Officer will bring in new and fresh ideas which will provide the much-needed fillip to Indian Football," said Chaubey.
However, all executive committee members including six eminent footballers on the panel attended the meeting, except Vice President NA Harris, Treasurer Ajay Kipa, and Bhaichung Bhutia.
"This is the first time that six former eminent players are part of the Committee as per the order of the Honourable Supreme Court. We need to work together, and at no time should any personal ego come as a roadblock to our endeavor to take Indian football forward together. Discipline is the key to success, and we need to be accountable as per the deadlines set." Welcoming the members, Choubey said.

Moreover, the new committee also appointed Sunando Dhar as the new deputy secretary-general of the AIFF. They also decided to appoint IM Vijayan as the chairman of the new AIFF Technical Committee. Eugeneson Lyngdoh, Climax Lawrence, Harjinder Singh, Arun Malhotra, and Pinki Bompal will be the other members of the AIFF Technical Committee.
