Indian football legend Sunil Chhetri on Sunday took to his official Instagram handle to welcome his newborn child to the world. The captain of the Indian men's team became a father on Wednesday after his wife Sonam gave birth to a baby boy. He also shared their baby boy's name with the world via that post.
Sunil Chhetri is regarded as one of India's greatest football players to ever play the sport. Despite his age of 39, he showed his exceptional leadership by guiding India to three consecutive victories this year. India secured the Tri-Nation Series, the Hero Intercontinental Cup, and the SAFF Championship Cup under their leader.
He is not part of the Indian team's lineup for the ongoing King's Cup in Thailand. He missed out on the tournament due to the birth of his first child and unfortunately, India got knocked out of the tournament.
"On August 30th, we were blessed with our guiding star. This is the single most important part of everything we'll ever narrate. But this wasn't easy. Every time we thought we were there, turned out we still had to keep going. And then a little more. We did well to never run out of faith in our hearts. It was the unshakeable kind. Eventually, our desire to be parents beat every adversary, every hurdle. We know a thing or two about winning. We're here now, the three of us. We've received so much love through all your sweet, kind, and caring messages. There were gestures that we will never forget. And we thank all of you from the depths of our hearts."
"We've taken our time with this. But the day we named him seemed like a good one to make introductions. World, this is our son, DHRUV," The Indian Men's Football Team Captain, Sunil Chhetri wrote on Instagram.
