Ranking the best right-wingers in football isn't an easy task in the modern age. From Salah, Chiesa and Saka, here are the top 10 best right wingers in football.
Ranking the best right-wingers in football isn't an easy task in the modern age. With 4-4-2 more or less resigned to history (we're aware of the irony!), a myriad of formations means wide men are a different breed than the classic crossers of the 1990s.
These days, they're also goalscorers, pressers, raumdeuters and more. Yet while the players on this list all have their little idiosyncrasies, one thing binds them: they are almost always fielded on the right.
This final point, therefore, excludes players like Paulo Dybala, Lionel Messi or Kylian Mbappe, who are just as likely to be fielded more centrally for their clubs.
Here is the list of Top 10 best right wingers in football in 2022:
10. Federico Chiesa (Juventus):
Coming in at number 10 and opening the list for us is this young talented winger. Before Euro 2020, Federico was unheard of; however, after a brilliant performance in the match of Italy against Austria, he started getting public attention and was shot into the limelight. He scored one goal and was voted man of the game.
The 24-year-old is currently on loan in Juventus from Fiorentina. He has 16 appearances and three goals playing in the Italian Serie A. The Italian is also a good passer and has an accuracy of 76.9%. Alongside Nicolo Zaniolo, Cheisa is considered to be the future of Italian football.
9. Hakim Ziyech (Chelsea):
"Wand of a left foot" is an over-used cliche, yet I genuinely can't think of a player this applies more to than Ziyech. The Moroccan has sublime technique coursing through that left peg of his; and an almost lazy gait that makes everything looks so effortless.
The 28-year-old can blow hot and cold for Chelsea – which goes some way to explaining why he's managed just 878 minutes in the top-flight this term – but can produce moments of pure magic out of nowhere. Look no further than the sensational winner against Tottenham on matchday 23.
8. Jadon Sancho (Manchester United):
An incredibly slow start to life in the Premier League saw Sancho score just once in the opening 24 Premier League games of the season, with no assists to pad the numbers. Yet, gradually, he's beginning to find form under Ralf Rangnick.
The Englishman has a goal and two assists in his last three starts for United and is growing in confidence. The 21-year-old has the speed and fancy footwork to wreak havoc in English football and is starting to show what all the fuss has been about.
7. Jarrod Bowen (West Ham):
Bowen is enjoying another stellar campaign for West Ham this season, and has more goal involvements (16) than any other Englishman in the Premier League. His raw pace, strength and aggression on the ball have the former non-league star a handful for some of the best defenders in world football. A England cap is surely only a matter of time.
6. Bukayo Saka (Arsenal):
Another player who made a slow start to the season before hitting blistering form of late. Saka has five goals in his past seven league appearances and, at 20, is already a calm leader on the pitch for Arsenal. A player of remarkable balance and cost control, Saka is blossoming into a world class talent at the Emirates.
Generous? Maybe, but what Arsenal's boy wonder has achieved at 20 years old is nothing to be sniffed at, shining as one of England's best performers during the stunning Euro 2020 campaign.
Third among Premier League players this season in successful dribbles (49), and in the top five for shots (65) and key passes (49). Leeds have had a miserable season thus far, but things would have been a lot worse had it not been for the dazzling form of their Brazilian winger. Raphinha is destined to be a top summer target for elite clubs this summer, and his performances have earned him those links. Raphinha seems destined for a move elsewhere regardless because he's truly outgrown his employers with nine goals and two assists.
4. Angel Di Maria (PSG):
Now at the ripe old age of 34, Di Maria is used only sparingly at PSG, often swapping in for Lionel Messi on the right hand side when his countryman is moved further infield. Despite a lack of game time in Ligue 1, the right-winger is often saved for tough Champions League fixtures, where his experience and class are needed most. Eight goal involvements in 19 league appearances – often as a substitute – speaks of his continued ability to affect games.
Di Maria seems truly evergreen in his ability to affect PSG games when they need him most with ambidextrous runs, crosses and shots seeing him hold his own amongst the Messi, Neymar and Mbappe triumvirate.
3. Riyad Mahrez (Manchester City):
The best first touch in world football? Mahrez is pure velvet sewn into the form of a Premier League footballer. The Algerian's almost slow-motion dribbling style, pinpoint crossing and vision regularly make a mockery of markers, be it in the top-flight or Champions League, where he almost always starts for Pep Guardiola's entertainers. Meanwhile, his record of scoring a goal every 128 minutes puts him second, just behind Mo Salah, in the Premier League this term.
One of the most slept-on ballers in the sport, Mahrez hasn't received anywhere near enough credit for what is shaping up to be his finest season for City yet with 21 goals and six assists in all competitions.
2. Serge Gnabry (Bayern Munich):
With Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller an ageing duo n Bayern's attack, it's often left to Gnabry to provide the pace and thrust to the Bavarian's attacks. Not only has Gnabry established himself as one of the world's best forwards in recent years, but he's shown the consistency necessary to endure amongst them, the Germany international is an intelligent mover, a muscular presence and deadly in front of goal. The former Arsenal man has 12 goals and nine assists this term, including 10 Bundesliga strikes.
Nobody even comes close. While some on this list are solid goalscorers and others more creative, none can genuinely rival Salah in either department. Twenty-seven goals and 10 assists in all competitions are astonishing numbers for a footballer who plays off the right, while his pace and trickery are a constant nightmare for defenders. The Egyptian is simply one of the greatest players in world football and easily the best in his position.
Grass is green, water is wet, Salah is the best right-winger in world football. Like we say, when there's an argument to be had that he'd finish in first place for all positions, a gold medal out wide was guaranteed.

Argentine legend Lionel Messi has won the most trophies in football history (46). Here are the other 10 players who follow him on this list most successful football history.

With this list of "11 players who have won the most trophies in football history," we will able to judge which player has been a part of a winning team mostly.
Though, it is not always the case that when you win a trophy, you have a big role to play in that. But, in this list, all the players listed always had big contributions to their team's success. So, without further a due, let's checkout the list.
Top 11 players with the most trophies in football:
11. Vitor Baia (34 trophies)
Vitor Baia spent most of his career with FC Porto except playing two years for Barcelona. Baia started his career with FC Porto in 1988 and left the club to join Barcelona in 1996.
Before retiring in 2007, he played for Barcelona in two stints and won the La Liga in 1997-98 season. His most success came his boyhood club FC Porto, where he won the Liga Portugal 10 times.
However, the biggest achievement was to win the UEFA Champions League in 2004 with the Dragons. Under the visionary eyes of Jose Mourinho, they created one of the greatest underdog success stories in European football.
In a total, Baia won 25 trophies with the Porto while adding the rest to his collection of glories for Barcelona. Unfortunately, he was not able to add any trophy while playing for Portugal.
Scottish legend Sir Kenny Dalglish is Liverpool's one of the most legendary players. Apart from playing 13 years for the Reds, he played for Celtic for 8 years at the start of his career.
For Liverpool FC, he won a club record 8 Premier League titles along with three Champions League titles. He had won 7 English Super Cups and 2 FA Cup titles as well.
While playing for Celtic, he became the Scottish Champion four times.
One of the most underrated players in modern football history, Di Maria always had to shine under the shadows of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Di Maria played alongside Lionel Messi for Argentina and then shared club dressing room with Cristiano at Real Madrid.
With his latest trophy for Benfica in the Portuguese Super Cup, he now has won 35 trophies in his career. Di Maria won five Ligue 1 titles with PSG and won his only Champions League title with Real Madrid.
However, just like Lionel Messi, his international success bloomed late in his career. He won the Copa America twice in 2021 and 2024. But, his major success was to win the FIFA World Cup 2022, where he scored an important in the final.
Di Maria retired from international football after the 2024 Copa America final.

8. Cristiano Ronaldo (35 trophies)
Arguably one of the greatest players in the history of football, Cristiano Ronaldo has 35 trophies in his cabinet at the moment. The Portuguese legend won his latest trophy for Al-Nassr FC as he helped them win the United Arab Club Champions Cup 2023.
Ronaldo, who started his club career with Sporting CP, won the Portuguese Super Cup with the club in 2003. That was the start to a historical career which gave football fans joy for over two decades.
The Portuguese legend flourished under Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United. He then joined Real Madrid where he won four of his five UEFA Champions League titles. Ronaldo has won a title for every club he has played for so far.
However, one of his biggest achievements as a player was to win the UEFA Euro Cup with Portugal in 2016. Beside scoring over 900 career goals, Ronaldo's success for every team is what makes him a legend.

7. Ryan Giggs (37 trophies)
Ryan Giggs played all his life for one football club; Manchester United. In his 24-year career at the club, he won a total of 37 trophies, a record for the club.
Not only that, with 13 Premier League titles, he is league's most successful player ever. With the Red Devils, he also went on to win two UEFA Champions League title.
For United, he played 963 games and has 168 goals and 265 assists, another record for United.
Sergio Busquets, the FC Barcelona and Spain legend is one of the most underrated players ever to play. The central defender was part of one of the greatest international team which won 2010 FIFA World Cup and 2010 Euros for Spain.
The former Barcelona captain won 9 La Liga titles. Not only that, he won 7 Spanish Cups and Spanish Super Cups as well for the Catalan club.
However, his biggest achievement in club football was to win three UCL titles for Barcelona. His latest trophy is the 2024 Supporters’ Shield winners with Inter Miami CF.
Maxwell, the Brazilian left back might be the only unknown player on this list. The defender achieved most of his success playing for PSG in France.
However, he found success with FC Barcelona as well. But, joined PSG to find more chances as well.
Maxwell's first trophy was with Cruzeiro, winning the Brazilian Cup in 2000. Soon the joined Ajax, wining two Dutch League titles.
His move to Barcelona via Inter Milan and FC Empoli saw him winning the UEFA Champions League title in 2011. But his most success came with PSG, winning the Ligue 1 four times in a row from 2013 to 2016.
Another player from that legendary Spanish and Barcelona team, who features in this list. Although known for his career at FC Barcelona, Gerard Pique had success with Manchester United as well.
It might be quite revealing for many that, he played alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, against whom he had some tough battles later.
Pique won 9 La Liga titles for Barcelona to go with 3 UCL titles for the club. But before reaching there he had won the Premier League and Champions League for United in the 2007-08 season.
He was also an integral part of the Spanish team which won the FIFA World Cup in 2010 and UEFA Euro in 2012.
Probably the best midfielder of the modern era, Andres Iniesta with 41 trophies is the third most successful footballer ever.
Another important player of that iconic Spanish and Barcelona team, Iniesta found success early in his career. He won his first major trophy with Spain U-17 team winning the U-17 Euros in 2000. He followed that up with the U-19 Euro title next year.
His Barcelona career started in 2002 which continued till 2018. In those 17 year at Barcelona, he won 32 trophies. Post that, he joined Japanese club Viseel Kobe where he won three trophies as well.
Along with all club level success, Iniesta's greatest achievement was to win the 2010 FIFA World Cup alongside lifting the 2008 and 2012 Euro Cup. His goal in the 2010 World Cup final to hand Spain their first-ever World Cup, is regarded as one of the greatest World Cup moments.
Iniesta called it a day in 2024 after spending a year at the Emirates Club.
Before Lionel Messi took over as the player with most trophies in football history, it was Dani Alves who had the record. The defender won 23 trophies in eight years at Barcelona.
Dani Alves won six La Liga and three Champions League titles with Barcelona. He then won 19 more titles while playing for Juventus, PSG, and Sao Paulo. He won domestic titles in Italy, France, Brazil and Spain as, which makes him one of the greatest of his era.
The defender won six major titles with his national team, Brazil. He started his Brazil career by winning the U-20 FIFA World Cup in 2003. Alves then won two Copa America titles in 2007 and 2019. He concluded his international career by winning the Olympic gold in 2021.
Despite the recent off-field controversies, with 43 trophies in his cabinet, Dani Alves is one of the greatest ever to play the game.

1. Lionel Messi (46 trophies)

Messi won back-to-back four international trophies with Argentina within three years. He won the Copa America 2021 and then went on to win the Finalissima 2022. Then he capped off his greatest achievement by winning FIFA World Cup 2022.
The Argentine maestro has also won the Olympic Gold Medal with his country in 2008. His latest international success came in Copa America 2024.

Barcelona's attack is one of the most feared in Europe and their strong performances in all major competitions are the reason they are bubbling in the hope of winning major trophies this season.
The Yamal-Lewandowski-Raphinhatrio is one of the lethal attacking trios currently formed in the Spanish League. This lethal front three scored a combined 55 goals, with Lewandowski leading the charge with 26 goals. Yamal and Raphinha also contributed, with 9 and 20 goals for them respectively.
Recently Barcelona won Super Copa de Espana, where the Catalan giants triumphed over Real Madrid with a dominating 5-2 scoreline. The trio played a major role in that game, with Raphinha scoring a brace and Yamal's magical finishing giving them their 15th Spanish Super Cup title.
Sporting CP are currently having a remarkable 2024-25 season with their deadly attacking trio of Viktor Gyokeres, Francisco Trincao, and Conard Harder leading the team in front. The lethal attacking trio was formed under Ruben Amorim in Sporting CP at the start of the 2024/25 season.
Till now, they have scored a combined 46 goals with Gyokeres contributing 32 of those 46 goals.Trincao and Harder donated notably 7 goals each.
They were pivotal in Sporting CP winning the Portuguese Primeira Liga and Portuguese Cup this season. This enabled them to be so high on our list of "Top 10 best-attacking trios in football" at the moment.
Though this trio was created by none other than Jurgen Klopp, it is becoming one of the World's best under the creative eyes of Arne Slot. Salah, Diaz and Gakpo have scored a total of 44 goals so far across competitions and 32 of them came in Premier League.
Salah is having a fantastic season contributing 21 goals while Diaz and Gakpo had their fair share of success with 12 goals as well.
4. Kane-Olise-Musiala: (45 goals)
Although Bayern Munich has not had a great start in the Champions League this season, the defending Bundesliga Champions have run riot in their league. All thanks to the goal-scoring combination of Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Jamal Musiala.
Kane with 36 league goals last season had already shown that they can be lethal in any league in the world while Olise and Musiala are proving why they are called the future of football.
In 2024-25 season, this trio has scored 45 goals across competitions. Kane is topping the chart for them with 22 goals. Meantime, Musiala has been on the best in business with 14 goals to his name. Olise, meantime has scored 9 so far.
5. Retegui-De Ketelaere-Lookman (37 goals):
This can come as a shocker for a few of the football fans. But, the 2023/24 Europa League winners are having a good season with their best arrivals Mateo Retegui, Charles De Ketelaere and Ademola Lookman in action for them.
Ketelaere was brought in from AC Milan while Retegui came to the club from Genoa CFC to form a lethal combination with Lookman under Gian Gasperini. The trio till now have added 37 goals of which 27 came in the Serie A.
Retegui has added 15 goals while Lookman and De Ketelaere added 12 and 10 respectively.
6. Pepi-De Jong-Tilman: (37 Goals)
The defending Dutch league champions are cruising in their league at the moment and the devastating trio of Ricardo Pepi, Lukk de Jong and Malik Tilman are mostly responsible for that. Tilman was brought into the club from Bayern Munich by Peter Bosz.
Though they are not being mentioned enough in the conversation of many football pundits currently, this attacking trio has enjoyed great success in the league so far. So far, they have added a total of 37 goals in the season with Pepi leading them with 15 goals.
De Jong and Tilman have added 11 each as well. The pace of Tilman and the finishing skill of Pedri to go with De Jong's physicality is what has made this trio unbeatable till now.
Can they transfer that form in UEFA Champions League? That would be the question the PVS fans would be asking though.
7. Alvarez- Griezmann- Sorloth: (36 Goals)
Normally whenever we talk about a Diego Simione team, we talk about defence, we talk about the solid base and style at the back. However, this time, we are compelled to discuss the attacking trio formed by Julian Alvarez, Antonio Griezmann and Alexandar Sorolth
Alvarez's inclusion into this team has helped them bring pace and creativity to the offensive areas while Griezmann's experience was always invaluable. Meantime, Sorloth, the former Villarreal recruit brought in the finish they had been looking for years.
Till now this trio has added 36 goals across competitions, 21 of which coming in the La Liga which helped them crawl back to the top of the Spanish League table.
Argentine forward Alvarez has added 14 goals while Griezmann added 10 and Sorloth contributed with 10 goals. However, it has been Angel Correa, the right winger who has been instrumental as well in the Champions League for them, scoring 3 goals in 5 appearances in the tournament.
8. Marmoush-Ekitike-Larsson (36 goals):
Well, if you are giving a fight to teams like Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen in your national league, there would be some things you are doing right as a team. Though this trio is not as popular as the Kane-Musiala-Olise one, they are surely cranking up numbers for them.
The attacking trio of Omar Marmoush, Hugo Ekitike, and Hugo Larsson has been one of the best in the top 5 European Leagues at the moment with 27 goals in the Bundesliga so far. Across competitions, they have added 36 goals so far and the credit must go to Omar Marmoush who has added 20 goals for them so far.
Hugo Ekitike has scored 12 while Larsson added 4 goals.
If you are looking for a football league which has been one of the most competitive so far in Europe, it would be the Portuguese League. Defending champion Sporting CP with 41 points, Benfica with 41 while FC Porto are giving them a fight with 40 points after 17 games for all of them.
And the credit for Proto's great run in the league must go to the trio of Samu Aghehowa,Galeno, and Nico Gonzalez.
Aghehowa, who was brought in from Atletico Madrid, has been their best player with 18 goals in 23 games while Galeno added 12 and Gonzalez scored 6 goals.
However, they have not been able to transform their league form to Europa League so far.
10. Mbappe-Vinicius-Bellingham (36 goals):
This trio was already making a noise even before it was created. Every football pundit was guessing how Real Madrid could line up with Kylian Mbappe arriving at the most successful European club.
Though they have not given the results expected from them, they have done enough to be on this list. Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr., and Jude Bellingham have added 36 goals in the season so far.
But, they would surely be looking to add more goals to that tally, especially in UEFA Champions League, where they have struggled till now. Mbappe after joining his dream club has netted 15 goals this season, followed byVinicius with 14 goals.Jude Bellingham has scored 9 goals so far this season.
The trio is not on the list because of their inconsistent performances for Manchester City in all competitions, but their skill to run through teams enabled them to get the mention.
This lethal trio has added 33 goals so far, where Haaland led the trio with 21 goals, Doku contributed with 5 goals, and Foden chipped in with 7 goals.
The Evolution of Attacking Partnerships in Modern Football:
Attacking shapes and formations along with style of play has evolved over the years. Here is a brief discussion how attacking trios have evolved in the last few decades.
In the 1930s, Raich Carter and Cliff Bastin (Arsenal in the 1930s) were centred around two central forwards or inside-forwards working together.
As football progressed in the 1970s and 1980s, we saw more dynamic combinations like Kevin Keegan and Keny Dalglish (Liverpool), where one striker was often more of a playmaker while the other was the goal scorer or the finisher.
By the 1990s and 2000s, attacking combinations became more fluid with the rise of false nines and multifunctional forwards. We saw that combination in Spanish team with players like David Villa, Fernando Torres, and Pedro showcasing how diverse an offensive system could be, mixing pace, skill, and finishing skills.
The 2010s marked the peak of attacking trios, notably with B-B-C (Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, and Cristiano Ronaldo) at Real Madrid and M-S-N (Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar Jr.) at FC Barcelona. The fluid movement, exceptional link-up play, and individual brilliance of both those trios helped those two teams win domestic and European titles.
In the 2020s, attacking units became even more flexible. The combination of Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne at Manchester City showed how the modern football system needs versatility at the top and midfield.
Which trio will dominate the remainder of the year? Let's predict that.
Note: These predictions are based on the teams and the best-attacking trio's current form.
1. FC Barcelona (Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Lewandowski):
With Robert Lewandowski as a top-tier striker, Raphinha's flair, and the explosive talent of Lamine Yamal, Barcelona has a balanced attacking trio. Lewandowski's experience combined with the youth and creativity of Raphinha and Yamal could provide a powerful offensive force, especially as the season progresses.
2. Bayern Munich (Kane, Musiala, Olise):
Harry Kane offers a clinical finishing ability, while Jamal Musiala's creativity and Michael Olise's flair add significant dynamism to Bayern's attack. This most lethal attacking trio, alongside Bayern's overall strength, could be a key contender for the remainder of this year.
3. Liverpool (Salah, Diaz, Gakpo):
Mohamed Salah continues to be one of the best in the Premier League, with Luis Diaz adding the South American flair and speed and Cody Gakpo's versatility and finishing making Liverpool's attack incredibly strong in European football.
4. Atalanta BC (Lookman, De Ketelaere, Retegui):
Mateo Retegui's goal-scoring ability, Ademola Lookman's pace and directness, and Charles De Ketelaere's technical skills provide a very effective combination. Atalanta has often been an underdog with powerful attacking units. This trio is one of the most lethal attacker's trios formed in Italy.
5. Real Madrid (Mbappe, Vinicius, Bellingham):
With Kylian Mbappe's pace and finishing, Jude Bellingham's intelligence, and Vinicius Junior's dribbling and explosive skills, Real Madrid has one of the most exciting lethal attacking trios in all of Europe. If they build chemistry, they could be devastating for the rest of the season.
Potential Emerging trios to watch:
1. FC Barcelona
Lamine Yamal, Vitor Roque (currently on loan at Real Betis), Gavi
2. Bayern Munich
Mathys Tel, Jamal Musiala, Leroy Sane

Di Maria holds the second position on the list with 41 assists. During his entire Champions League career, he played for top clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, PSG, and Benfica. Although, he managed to win the competition just once.
His most recent goal-creation against AS Monaco for Benfica took him one ahead of his friend Messi. Though he is 36 now, he still has time to claim the top spot because he is just one behind Ronaldo.

Discussing the Champions League and "MR Champions League" is not on the list that is not possible! Though Cristiano is popularly known for his goal-scoring ability, the Portuguese International also tops the list in goal creation for his teammates in Europe's most prestigious competition.
